OK, yep good pickup. The balance sheet is just a polar chart. You can download one from the internet and print out. I have attached one below.

cheers

Test fixture

Here is the prototype of the base. There are 2 versions. The version shown can test 100 mm up to 127 mm. The other is from 50 mm to 100 mm. They both use the same base plate.

Nice work on the mount but couldn't you make an insert to adapt the 100-127 mount to accept 60 to 90mm units?

I thought about that, the problem is the mass of the cradle would probably be to much for the smaller fans, and wouldn't balance correctly.

Update

Hi folks, its been a while since my last post. I have updated the website with the latest software. The new oscilloscope program includes a "phase shift" estimator. I also have a Beta version for a 2 blade propeller balance.

enjoy!

I've been thinking how useful this would be for prop balancing in-situ since it would be ideal for balancing big folders with spinner included. They are a bit of a pain to do conventionally since you can never be sure the blades are at exactly the same extension.

Also what about 3 bladers which are tedious to do on a conventional balancer?

Keep it coming!

Thanks

John

Hi John,

3 blade propellers would use the 4 point balance method. The trial mass would be applied on each blade tip.

cheers

My kit arrived last week, while I was away on holiday. I didn't expect. It to arrive that soon!
Picked up the package today at the postal office, can't wait to try it out.
As an electronics engineer, this thing appears to be very well thought out. The fact that the person who created this thought about measurement of the own frequency of the support shows a good knowledge of this matter.
Quite curious to the experience!

Just a question about the input power connector: just to make sure: which one is the plus, the outer or the inner?

Hi Phaedra,

The inner is plus the outer is negative. If in doubt please see the manual.
