Hello I'm new here but wanted to share a project we are working on, a 2 meter AC One Design.
Designed using Delftship and made in female molds the boats are "sport scale" to V5 AC boats but with less overhang distortions.
They are 3 channel (the third being a backstay servo) and use an RMG 380.
Basic dimensions:
LOA 2meters/ 79"
Beam 10"
Draft 28.5"
Displacement 29 lbs
Ballast 21lbs
Sail Area 2860 sqin

The main reason for my post is to share the idea around and see what people think of the boats & concept.

I don't know much about sailing but those boats are bad a$$ looking. You have my vote on making kits. Good luck

Thanks guys, we really hope to get a class going soon. The boats are lots of fun to sail and can go out in almost any condition due to the size & power of the design.
We aren't using a multiple rig size approach to go uprange, instead we have 3 sail sizes A,B &C. The out of the out of the water shot shows A&B. The main idea behind this was to try and keep cost down.

I am, it's actually what I do for a living (just not for models). I have a soft spot for AC boats having been the sail designer for The China Team in 2007.
So it made sense for me to do an AC class boat.

Candid response--while the boats look very cool and the paint job is great, two meters is a pretty big boat. The trend today is toward smaller not larger. Two meters make it hard to take in a small car and almost impossible to take on an airplane. Also, the concept of one rig where you have to take off and tie on new sails to deal with wind changes takes way too long unless you develop some sort of quick "on and off" system. Overall, if you are trying to sell more than a few boats to more than a few people, you might want to rethink. If the plan is to make some cool boats for a few friends or a local club, then you are on the mark....best of luck...tc

Not to discourage you- they do look like very nice boats you've built.

I've heard this about the size... Believe it or not the boat can be transported very easily in my wife's new Beetle! The main reason for the size is to have a boat that can sail well in open water (bigger waves etc) as we very rarely sail them in ponds.
Set up from taking it out of the car is 15 minutes. A very trick feature of the mast design is since we use a boltrope changing mains can be done super quick (they feed in from top down) The mast crane just slides into the tube after, we attach the head tack & clew using small zip ties.
I don't see this project having a huge number of owners, they are after all much more money than a CR 914... But I'd be pretty happy with 20 boats out on the water as a "class"
In many ways I see the boat as a much more modern alternative to a Wheeler.

Yes, I am in CT. I actually went out today in the same spot these shots were taken in 16- 20 knots with 1-2' waves. The boat was amazing. I tested the absolute upper end of the "A" size main and used it with our "B" jib. It was on the limit but sailed very well. Having the adjustable backstay is key for covering the range with the big square top (9")
