New here, let me introduce myself... And what next?

Hey all. After reading a lot online I stopped by hobbytown to see what the Blade helis are like in person. Only experience I had flying was toy coax copters which I got bored of quick.

Originally I thought I either wanted a 120SR, mSR, mSR x, or maybe even start on an mCP x, which the guy there talked me out of. My concern was getting bored of the mSR or Msr X too quickly and he talked me into an mQX and I LOVE IT.

I've been flying and crashing the snot out of this thing, flying outside even on a windy day has been doable, I had to get it out of one tree, and off the roof of my house once.

I got it last night and I can do rolls and flips on it just fine, been pushing myself and trying to see how low of an altitude I can start my flips at.

The guy at the shop said the quickness of the mqx and it's demand to be "on the sticks" would keep me challenged a lot longer than an msr and the snappiness would help me ease into a CP heli when I'm ready for that.

So my question is this: What's next? As with any hobby I have, I want to get something else now. My thought at the moment is to get a DX6i to play with since I can use it on about any other craft, and a charger that can do more than one battery at a time.

If I do that and stick with helis, I think a CP heli may be next...

What do you guys think? I also may want to try a plane, probably just try a Champ, but then I need to get AMA and local field membership...

Regarding the charger; I haven't been into RC in almost ten years, so I'm new the the lipo batteries. Can I get a charger that will charge multiple batteries and that will work for batteries of difference capacities once I have multiple crafts?

Thanks for reading!

Welcome aboard.

I think the Nano CPX is next for sure.
More powerful than the MCP X and very durable.

The shop guy was wrong about the MCP X.lol
The Nano is even better though.

He just said the MCP x would frustrate me and make me give up.

I do need a different radio, one with "sport" mode or something, for a CP heli, right?

Yes you need a new radio.
A Spektrum DX6i is an awesome entry level radio that will last a life time.

It will also fly your MQX even better than the TX that came with it.

You can buy a RTF Nano that comes with a radio but a new DX6i will save you money in the long run since you can buy BNF helis cheaper.

Alright, think I'm going to look for a DX6i used or a CPX nano used WITH a DX6i...

Anyone out there have this combo they wanna part with?

Another vote for the dx6i here.
The AA cells seem to last forever in it.

I bought the nano and dx6i after a week flying my first chopper and I absolutely love it.
The dx6i is not that difficult to program and you can find lots of tutorials online about the different settings. Even some that provide some valuable feedback for the dx6i and nano combo.

Ok, I've lost my patience. I'm going to Hobbytown here in a bit to get the DX6i and the Nano... Call me impulsive.

There's nothing impulsive about that purchase. If you have mastered the MQx, you are ready for any CP heli. It's a logical step.

Update:

Been reading THIShttp://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html and doing the exercises. I got thru about #6 and decided to just hover around the kitchen for a couple batteries. The early steps of controlling the heli while on the ground really did help me get acquainted with how sensitive it is.

I still have only flown in non-stunt mode.

DX6i = ROBUST, CRUDE, RELIABLE, and downright GOOD.
If that TX lets you down I will eat my underpants.
Go for it matey..
Nothing wrong with Spektrum in my view.
The EXPERTS over on Helifreaks will mostly echo my view.
Just need a DX18 now, but this bitch has not once cheated on me. <3

Good match.

Not a great fan of Blade, but I'm a huge fan of their propriet' Spektrum TX.

SPEKTRUM is the way IMO.
