Iffy forecast

I am charging, but it does not look promising tommorow. 16" on the ground now and more on the way.

Good question, currently raining hard here, 15mph and not that great. Forecast variable. Going to get up in the morning and see. All of the team will be there anyway for a chat and cup of tea

I am almost feeling guilty trying to enter last minute at the hosts home field in sunny Southern California with my vintage Grand Esprit, very cool that this is a worldwide event, It would be great to see pictures of the various flying fields and weather conditions at the different venues, Mr. B's home field is about 15 miles south/southeast of the Rose Parade.
Food I will bring for tomorrow is chips and salsa, Christmas candy, pita chips and humus, I was gonna bring some grapes but we are eating them right now. Should be fun soaring with kindred spirits all over the world, Happy New Year! From Dennis and Jayme!

Got to the field early, no one around. Found the Tx battery didn't get charged, so knock out 20 minutes there. Drag out the *%#! hi-start. Launch-land-repeat a few times. Tangle #%*! hi-start in tree. Recover #%*! hi-start. Wind switched, drag %#^* hi-start across field and re-attach. Discover field is too narrow for sideways launch. Tangle *^%# hi-start with another &€? hi-start (like Ghostbusters, DON'T cross the beams!). Give up and fly the Radian until the wind picks up too much.

My official time: 4:27. That's four minutes, twenty seven. %#&$! hi-start.

Twin Towers Park, 28 degrees F, overcast ceiling at about 1000 ft, wind 5 mph gusting to 10 and surprisingly buoyant conditions with a heavy snow cover.

Class B
Oly-IIs
6:10 including 20 sec motor run to 200 meters launch height
This plane flew several times and the best lift was found in an earlier flight that included a re-light of the motor (not counted here) but I landed due to numb hands. Fun discovery of that lift!

Class A (hi-start)
Sovereign
4:10
Although a long hi-start was used the pull was super weak, launch height maybe 140 feet. Fortunately hooked a little puff of something and worked it downwind for 3 minutes not gaining much height. Drifted back to the LZ and nursed it for another minute. Only flight of the day for that plane. Big smiles.
