In a 12, the next step up is a 12x8, but at 900kv on 4S you're going to over amp it. I'd
try an 11x7. ecalc says 3.2Kg of static thrust and 78mph pitch speed.

Just put mine on the scale , and it weights 2.4kg (no idea what thats in lbs and ozes) with 10.000mAh 4S.
I still need to add OSD, vTX and a small video battery.
Guess I end up at around 2.6kg when ready to fly.

I have two 5800mAh 4S batteries with different C ratings and different labels (one zippy compact, one zippy flightmax). Can I use these in parallel together safely for powering my skyhunter?

With electrics pusher/puller designation is irrelevant.

E-Calc will say that a lot of the set-ups you see with FPV are over amping the motor as it makes the determination on the assumption that the motor will be operating at or near WOT. You will also see the flight times (and mixed flight times) are also of much shorter durations than usual FPV missions.

Most of us cruise at a fraction of the maximum operating capabilities of the motor so something what is marginal on E-calc might actually be in the sweet spot for efficiency

While it is true that most don't run at full throttle all the time, I've seen several ESCs
literally in flames due to being over amped after only moderate length runs at full
throttle. That and a few cooked motors.
The numbers for 4S 900Kv on a 12x8 prop are really over the top.

As long as you're not getting close to the C rating limit of either battery, they don't need to be perfectly matched. Use what you have I say.

. Actually, in series I would say its essential , in parallel, not as important.
