[QUOTE=Daemon;27895869]I mean, the optimal CG is back around the servo wires, and when you put two
4S 5000 packs in it, they will have to be slid back almost completely out of sight
under the gear tray to maintain that optimal CG. If the batteries are forward
of that , it will likely be nose heavy, and inefficient thus burn more power.
Having an optimal CG is more important than the prop choice.[/QUOTE

ok understood now thanks for the help

If you try the manufacturer's recommended CG you will probably find it horribly nose heavy and inefficient. With CG around the servo wire it flies great and and darn good efficiency. Unfortunately, as Daemen points-out, the batteries are WAY back under the tray and a real PITA to get out to charge (using 10-13AH 4S) . I started-out with a lipo strap but quickly changed to just using a long patch of velcro lining the bottom of the fuselage (under the tray). Was concerned about possible shifting of the lipos during flight but hasn't been a problem yet and a heck of a lot easier then having to remove the wings every time I wanted to swap or charge lipos.

Ya, I've always just used a strip of velcro on the bottom of the fuse, and no strap.
I don't spend a lot of time trying to pull negative Gs while loaded up with 10Ah of batteries.
Never had em move in anything short of a full on crash, which is when
you want em to let loose anyway.

For what reason? I vote no. There is a lot of good advice new user may miss if the thread is moved.

Seems pointless in my opinion. Keep this thread going.

Keep this thread!. If you have any update or new version of the SH, update your first post or title.

As others have said, just update the first post of this thread with your new info.
You can even change the thread title from Advanced editing mode, although
it's best not to confuse people too much with meaningless title changes for
marketing purposes only. This thread's title is simple and to the point.
Definitely do not close this thread. If you do, we'll start a new one
that you do not control and move discussion there.

BTW, I see nothing in your new thread to indicate what makes the 2014 version
any different than the one before it. I, as a consumer would want to know
that (pics and description) before anything else.

I agree, no reason for a new thread. This one has all of the user info. What we really want to know is what's new?

Did you improve the plastic brackets so the plane can look symmetrical?
Did you put holes in the flat surfaces of them for better glue purchase?
Did you strengthen the tail or the "pods" on the wind where the tail booms connect?
Is there a provision for rudders?
How about including pre-made servo extensions?

Those are just a few "improvements" which (aside from the rudders at least) would be welcome by all.

Your points are understood. I was thinking this thread is very long and maybe confusing for people to look through but I did want to ask before doing so. Seems as if we'll leave it open. The plane is continuing the same design for now. If we make changes in the future, maybe that will be the time to start a new discussion.

quick question since ive been wondering about this .im using a 5v bec and on the output i have it connected to my dragonlink receiver and i also taped into the the bec output and connected it to my storm osd. is this ok to do ? or do you guys recommend i run a separate bec ? i want to make sure when my skyhunter arrives i install and run everything the best possible way, i have not had any problem running it this way in my skywalker, phantom fx wing or mini talon . but i want to outdo myself with the build on my skyhunter and have everything perfect. thanks again guys.

Sent email to skyhunter-rc.com about what was different with the new version. This is what they replied.

"There have been some rumors about the plane. At this moment there is no difference. It's just a continuation of the plane that many users already love. We do want to update the plane but are currently going over possibilities, this will take sometime and is not expected in the near future. "

So there you go. Same SH

DIY SkyHunter Clone

Hi,
First let me say this maybe not is the correct thread for this but this thread inspired me to do it. Some how I got a wild hair to stick build a Skyhunter clone, designing it to be cut with my CNC machine. The plan is to build a sturdier SH with landing gear option, roomer/ easier to get at the batteries, RX, Autopilots, cameras, etc. I plan to cover the entire plane with fiberglass/Kevlar. But I get ahead of myself.
What I want to share is my progress so far. Hopefully the photos will explain it all.
This is still an Alfa version, just see how things go together and help me visualize it for further designs. So far I have the wings built, need to add mounting hardware and servos. Fuselage is close but I need to design some changes. Enjoy the photos.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
