Spectrum 2.4

probably done to death but I can't find anything in search.

Nearly everytime something goes wrong with down planes at my local club most guys are pretty quick to blame Spretum 2.4 revievers.

I have also had signal problems but that was my fault. Aerial not in the correct postion on my TX..

Is Sprectrum 2.4 that bad????

I fly glow 40 size with 6 and 9 ch recievers.

I also have used HK 6 & 9 HK with satilites with out issues.

There was, or is, was I think is more correct, an issue with brown outs using 4.8V batteries...Go with 6V and you won't be sorry

Jetmech I have heard the same thing. Most of the guys at our field that fly glow use the 2000mah 6.0v packs that most LHS sell. That's what I run in my 40 size and my Telemaster with Spektrum rx's and never had an issue. I think once the battery gets a little use on it being already around the 4.8 range they don't play to well together. Could be wrong, but thats how it is at our field.

Well, I've never had an issue with mine, but I did witness a lock out with Dx8 and a handy king. I think it may have been an orange rx.

I do run 6.6 Li-Fe on fuel planes, though.

I had a signal loss once with a Spektrum rx, turned out it was a bad DX6i. That was my fault because I didn't do a range check. Sent the dx6i in and they replaced the RF module and the antenna. I'm use life batteries on my airplane and helis now, just be carefull on how much mha your using on each flight as the life batteries drop in voltage fast when discharged.

This is why I am happy with my 72mhz, I just watch you guys work out all the bugs, then I might think about switching to 2.4ghz.

i had a few brown outs running internal becs. i later switched to cc bec 20 pro on my bigger stuff. with two power leads supplying power to rx ive never had an issue , i run 2 cell lipos regulated at 6 volts.

on my smaller planes i run a few orange rx with no problems. this is with both my old dx6i and current dx8.

im a spektrumn guy. cant wait to see what replaces the dx8 in few years

When I got out of the hobby all we had was 72 mhz. When I returned (two years ago) there was 2.4. I bought a Spectrum module and RX to fit my old JR. Nobody told me about brown outs etc. I followed the instructions as to antenna placement and installed my 4.8 volt battery. NEVER had a problem.

YMMV

I've been flying electric and nitro plates/helis for 2+ years on Spektrum 2.4...never been locked out or had a crash that could be blamed on the radio link.

Read the manual on how to install and power the receivers and don't buy off-brand receivers.

I had one Orange RX and it was flawless for me. I may have been one of the lucky ones though????? I flew in in a foamy 3D. I flew it strait up almost out of site on a couple of occasions without issue. Again I may be one of the lucky ones????

Same here. I don't fly nearly as much as many here, a couple packs a week on small foamies, but have not yet had any problems. I have so far mainly used Orange Rx w/o satellites as well without any glitches, besides my own.

2.4 Spektrum here with 2 Spektrum receivers in 2 different planes. 4.8 volt packs in both and no issues (knock on wood). Never used a different brand receiver though.

I've flown roughly 5 orange rx with no problems. The brown outs seem to be power issues.

I'm flying one now and have two spares that have never flown. I love them
