My home built camera gimbal.

Hi.
I finally got round to building myself a camera gimbal for my Hexa.
Having a lathe/mill made it a lot easier.

I am waiting for DJI to return my Wookong M compass so I fitted the Naza (glad I kept it) and it flies great.

The weather is too windy for proper testing just now but the thing seems to work quite well.

Will post video soon.

I like it. Very simple and clean. How heavy is it? I think a few of us are going about with very similar design concepts.

Hi, it was your thread that inspired me to make this.
The all up weight with JR servos and Gopro is 500 grams.
It is built entirely from my bits box apart from the pulleys, belts and flanged bearings.
I love building so no doubt I will sell the whole lot before too long.
Looking forward to building something bigger for the Wookong M.

HI, I am 64 years young, I have built loads of things in my life including early propo radio (was it called Micron?) but I dont understand electronics.
I have to be led by the hand. After that, once I get soldering I am fine!
I hope that my next gimbal resembles a Zen Moose.
It will probably be even further away than my spelling!

Flight test.

In spite of the wind I had to give it a quick try. I left the 2 front arms visible so you can see I was really shaking it about. In hindsight I think I should have been a bit more gentle. I was probably going way over the limits of travel.

Hey my video wont upload! What am I doing wrong?

try filming with the gopro in a mirror. always a good test of how stable the cam is.

Now you have my interest...

Naza gimbal control, my favorite brand of servo (JR ) simple install no pots, and you get stability like that!

Put me on the need to know for the type of belts, pulleys and servo model number. Great job on the build, I like it

Thanks for your kind remarks guys.
The pulleys and belts were from www.motionco.co.uk. I used72T 32T with 110T belt. The metal pulley does NOT bolt direct to the servo, I drilled the servo output disc and then drilled and tapped the metal pulley. Bob's bodge! The servo is a JR NES-507 that came with my JR X8310 transmitter. They have been lying around unloved for the past 11 years! As I said this was built from my bits box. I was inspired by the build from SeismicCWave and developed from there. I am a panelbeater by trade and went on to become a Motor technician finally designing and building Bugatti Type 59 replicas. I am used to working with metal. Aluminium is a good material for damping vibrations and I think it has played a part here. Having a small mill it is easy for me to turn a 14mm carbon tube through 90deg by just basically drilling a couple of holes. There is no rocket science with my work! with the addition of Turnigy V2 Quadcopter extended arms - http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...mm_2_pcs_.html I have made a bit of a mistake with the pitch axis. The hinge point should go straight through the lens. I should have put the shaft through the centre of the carbon tube and I have got it a little low. The roll axis is pretty much spot on.
