Good, isn't that stuff nice to work with. I have a friend who cuts it on a plotter and it sure is neat. Very pretty airplane!!!!

Thanks.

When I want small letters, I use cut vinyl. When I want bigger stuff, there's nothing wrong with hand-cutting. This plane will be all hand-cut, just like the two Gulfstreams in the previous picture.

It's faster, easier, much more enjoyable, and adds a certain "not bought at K-Mart" look to it. Also I get a perfect color match to the rest of the covering.

HI Andy
Looked for you at E Fest, but maybe you weren't allowed in by the opposition

You're doing a really cool take on a great design here, would love to see it fly when she's all done.

On numbers - go along with you on cutting my own out. I 'translated' my custom AMA # - all letters - into a long ago form used by full sized aviation for registration or squadron numbers, can't recall the name of the font unfortunately. Put into CAD, all I have to do is change the width or height, keeping the aspect ratio the same, print them out and cut them out, from stickytrim mostly.

My overall colour schemes lean heavily to easily applied 'this way up' clues, not artistic merit, and often cause sniffing and nose lifting from the Spousal Unit. She even caused me to stop using pink and purple

Good luck with the Shrike up where she belongs

Actually, it's really nice of them to host the event for us every year. Maybe in the future they'll actually have something to show themselves

I don't go to E-Fest. Too many people, not enough room. It's OK when we have our weekly flying there, but for those lights!

Those are the colors I use to score points with mine

I'll probably be selling this one. I have a wedding and college graduation to pay for in a few months. You can pick it up July 3

Andy, do the rudders extend below the elevator like the original one? I couldn't really tell from the pictures. Can't wait to see this thing go.

No, but I added more area on the top side. In case you didn't guess, this is "Shrike" in general planform only If I find it needs ventral fins I can still add them. It would only be during landing (high alpha, low airspeed).

Today I've been putting servos on the access panels. I found out I didn't have all the remote receiver extensions I thought, so I'll not be able to finish installing the radio gear until next week.

All servos are Spektrum A7010.

I put the model into my DX18, defined the flight modes (T/O, Normal, Land), adjusted the subtrims, and tweaked the sequencer. I'm getting excited about finishing it up!

If you need help with the Sequencer there's a nice thread here.

Second dumb question for the week, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around it.

It looks like you covered the assemblies like the wing/body, then glued it together, how did you glue the spar inside of the wing? Did you have a joiner in the middle, or did you glue the two wing halves together before covering it.

Everything got covered prior to final assembly (which I still haven't finished yet).

The spars are top and bottom at about 30% chord. The wing joiners are 2 pieces of Dave Brown Pushrods that run through at least 3 ribs, maybe 4, on each side.

Wing joiners don't need to be glued inside the wing to do their job. Big 3D planes have a joiner that is fairly well attached to the spars, and the wing itself is held on by a rather small bolt. Full-scale planes are built the same way.
