It has been a while, but the Shrike finally started getting covered last night. Before I covered it, I had applied 2 coats of nitrate thinned 50/50. This makes it real easy to get all the fuzz hardened for sanding off (320 grit flexible block), and Ultracoat sticks SUPER well then.

The fuselage sides had a mask of blue masking tape applied first, just slightly undersized relative to the wing root. This will ensure that I have wood-wood glue when I attach the wing. In the high-glare photo you can just barely make out the mask under the covering.

I probably won't be able to do any more until late in the week.

Just found this thread. She looks pretty good there. Looks like it would be fun to fly especially if you were to go with the EDF setup.

Maybe someday I'll finish the EDF fuselage. Right now I don't need to spend money on the battery packs.

For those of you who will build from the kit plans that I sent around, here's my build thread on rcu:

Has a few tricks that might be useful. She started out with fixed landing gear, but I didn't like the way it flew and removed it.

I would be interested in the plans if you wouldn't mind. I am building my first plane from plans right now. It is a challenge but I love it. I think 90% of my builds from now on with be from plans.

I've been covering the past two days. Almost done, so I thought I'd take a photo to share.

The bottom is red, silver and black. I'll take photos of that when I get more done.

Thanks, guys.

I need to figure out how to add some black trim without breaking the theme. Once I do that I'll finish it up and start installing the systems.

Find a friend that can cut vinyl. He will be able to cut the thin shapes you are looking for and then help you install them. After the first one you will be hooked!

I do my own cutting

I was referring to the design, not the cutting out. And I got it figured out now at least for the fins, so I'm busy cutting.
