Cool
Hey! Dr.Kiwi, come in and test our new 15g brushless motor

Hi folks here,

We developed a new motor named AP15 these days and I would like it to be tested by Dr.Kiwi and others who are interested in it.
Here is the description of the motor:
It is ideal for small electric airplanes 100-150g F3P flying. The Curved Magnets offer a perfect gap from the inside of the rotor for optimal power and efficiency, The estimated thrust with 7-8 inch prop is between 200g -250g.

The Backmount is integrated, Prop adapter for GWS, STO and APC-Props with needed O-Rings and all screws are included.
Specifications:
KV1500
Power is 50W
Idel current:0.4A 2S-3S
Recom. GWS 8043 prop on 2S(7.4V)
6-7 inch prop on 3S(11.1V)
Max current on 2S 7.4V will be better if it is less than 7A
Max current on 3S 11.1V will be better if it is less than 5A
Weight:15g
We need the following data:
Thrust, current, 2S(7.4V) on GWS 8043 and GWS 7035
Thrust, current, 3S(11.1V) on GWS 7035
Comparison data between AP15 and Hacker A10, we need to find out which one is better. We will send the motor for free and USD6 shipping cost needs to be paid which is by airmail parcel.

Thank you!

PM sent: I could certainly conduct such a test for you, but since you are wanting to see how it performs against a Hacker A10, I would need a Hacker A10 so that I can perform tests on both....... head-to-head, using the same equipment, same test stand, at the same altitude, and the same ambient temperature. Having different people testing the two motors in different places... using different equipment, under different conditions, is like comparing apples with oranges!

Cheers, Phil

You are asking the tester to pay shipping costs?

Yes, but the better the tester needs to have a Hacker A10 for test comparison.
Thank you!

It seems that, in addition to paying for shipping of the AP15, I need to go out and buy a $35 A10S. But there is no Hacker A10S which matches the AP15 (1500Kv).. there is an A10-12S (2900Kv) and an A10-15S (2320Kv)... so no head-to-head comparison with the designated props (see OP's Post #1) is possible.

I looked through my database of motors I've tested and there are none in the 15g-18g range which match the 1500Kv of the AP15.. the lowest Kv I see for motors this size is ~1315Kv... then the next lowest is 1645Kv....most are >2000Kv....so I have nothing to test the AP15 against!

There is the AXI 2203/52 (1525kv) if you feel like spending about $70 on a 18g motor.

The same system is operated by these guys..http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1733906. Louis Fourdan initially tried to help, then sensibly opted out.. I responded but indicated my unwillingness to pay for test motors.. they have yet to respond!

Maybe, if YXmotor comes to the party we can see how their AP15 matches up with the AXI 2203/52 (1525Kv)... should I camp beside my mailbox and await delivery of an AP15 and an Axi?

Testing just one motor, especially one of their choice, is statistically insignificant. You should buy at least a thousand of them selected at random. After they are all tested then the raw data can be statistically analyzed to come up with a close to real world conclusion about their effectiveness.

Hi Larry,

Of course I absolutely agree... n=1 is a waste of everyone's time.... but maybe 1000 is a bit over the top... maybe they'll send me 10 of each!

Cheers, Phil

As long as they are sending them to you knowing you are reviewing them it is moot really 1 or 1000 they can still pick the best samples, or even do special versions to skew the results.

I'm sorry for my delayed reply. It is ok for no comparison with the Hacker 15g motor, I will ship out the motor to Dr.Kiwi today, it will arrive in US within 8-10 days.
Thank you!
