THIS is incredible! I read about your plane in Model Aviation magazine, but the large pics and videos show it off much better.

What is the camo paint scheme? Is it paint? Adhesive paper? I assume it's something applied over white foam.

Thanks!

Joe prints his graphics on the foam and then cuts out the pieces and assembles the plane.

I draw my graphics in Adobe illustrator, and then print them out onto Durobatics foam. The foam is sprayed with a 3-4 coats of a product called InkAID. http://www.inkaid1.com/ InkAID lets you print out your graphics using your inkjet printer on almost any surface including balsa.

Joe,

You run the foam through an inkjet printer? Or, what am I missing?

If so, what printer? My HP 5740 Deskjet printer bends the paper 180 degrees, and there is no way, as far as I know, to run something like a foam sheet through it.

And, then, the fuselage is a foam sheet, essentially bent into a tube?

Thanks!

Tom

I am using a Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 inkjet for all of my model airplane prints. The foam is very thin, less than 1/2 mm and can easily pass through the printer. The foam is rolled or bent into the shape of the plane that I am modeling.

I am planning on selling several of my designs as RTF custom built models at some point in the near future. (Malinchak Scale Models ) I may sell the A-10 as a kit those that want them. However, I have a few obstacles to overcome first. One of them is the foam that I am using (Durobatics) is no longer available. I am working on finding a good replacement. I am also planning on purchasing a laser cutter as it takes me hours to hand cut out all of my parts!

I am planning on building a new 1/72 scale A-10 with two brushless motors to test its performance when I get time.

What do you guys think of a RTF profile version of my 1/72 scale A-10 like my Classroom Fighters that I designed for Plantraco with two 6mm fans. I think it would be a good flying model. http://www.microflight.com/

You guys are going to flip when you see the new A-10. I'm calling it the A-Tiny.

The Classroom Fighter idea would be great.

The A-Tiny is a good name! This is a shot of the A-Tiny next to the 1/72 scale A-10.

I will work up some graphics for a Classroom version when I get time.

Despite what Joe will say, the propulsion system is magic to us mere mortals!
