Anyone got the skis out in the Northeast?
Dry as a bone here in Kansas. All of the news is about the storm on the Northeast! Is anyone flying off the snow out there? Post some photos please!

I got out today!!! with snow on the ground flying my loyal HOB Micro Cub. First time ever flying in snow! Even flew the Cub with it's stock landing gear....no skis. Only wished I brought the digital camera because it was absolutely stunning out there today! |

I wish you would have taken the camera too. It has to be pretty neat, if there isn't any wind? It is dark now. Hopefully some will read this by the fire tonight and get us some cool pics tomorrow?

I don't know about the flyers on the east side of the country but I have been on and off skis out here in South Lake Tahoe, CA. since the last weekend in October. We got some substantial early storms in the last weekend of October and the first couple of weekends in November. Had to go back to wheels the last couple of weeks as the early snow melted of. A good storm nailed us this weekend and the skis are back on again. To windy to fly today but it should be sunny and low winds tomorrow. Spent this afternoon converting over to the skis and adapting a pair to the Wattage PT17 as well. Looks like the maiden will be off skis. Will post a pic of the plane on skis tomorrow on the thread I have going. Outside of being on the cool side the winter weather has opened up more flying sites for me. The local golf coarse is a great place to fly. Hope to get out there tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the Stearman on Skis. Sould be great fun to maiden on skis!
I fly off a golf course too. You can't beat it! I have and advantage also in that my couse is never played! Well, almost never. Mike |

Not skis but floats. Floats work much better than skis especially when the snow is soft. Surprisingly floats turn fairly well in the snow. Note the tracks in the snow made by my Slow Stick in today’s flying session.

No photos, but I have 4 of my planes on skis and flew one of them this weekend. It was my Moth, on skis, on a frozen lake with no snow...
