Narrated FPV Flight From Moving Car + Near Disaster! (8 min 25 sec)

Episode 23 of the FPV PROJECT!

Hmmm, a bit too far for the DX5e, it started to glitch. Or maybe it was the wind? Seemed strange, but I'm sure that I lost signal at one point.

Also check out my R/C site at:

Check out this one, too... Episode 22. Took longer to upload.

DJO,

Again, cool video. I'll save the preaching, but I do have a suggestion

1. Look up dragon link UHF control. This will give you better control.

Yup I'm well aware of DL. But I personally would prefer EzUHF because of customer support. I may use a 2.4 GHz booster to start with, or try FrSky or RMILEC with a 9X. Not sure. However I'll figure it out and maybe get some upgrades for the holidays

UHF would be better than a booster. The booster probably isn't legal. For the UHF, you will need to get a ham radio license to be legal, but it sounds like you know enough about electronics to get that no problem. There are practice tests online with the actual questions so you will be able to know in advance if you would be likely to pass, without being out any money.

Hehehehe check out the signature under my name
(I already have my HAM license - got it when I first started)
I looked at EzUHF prices... would be about $290 for the TX, RX, cables... extra cash for the antennas though

Thanks so much! I get easily 30 minutes off a single 1300mah 3S pack... And I have two packs for over an hour at the field

something else is wrong i have gone 3x further than that on a dx6i with no UHF
my current record is about 2000 feet from the TX Spektrum claims up to a mile ? are you using DSM2 or DSMX ?

Check my videos all of them i am running DX6i with no mods. I think the car was shielding your signal mostly

Check out my video where eagles fly thats a DX6i no UHF i cant imagine the DX5 range is so low are you using an orange box receiver ?

UHF is kind of pointless realize anything beyond LOS FPV in USA is illegal without the proper permits

This is why you never see me flying away 2-3 miles or so if you do I would strongly recommend not posting such videos on the net anything beyond LOS will get the anger of the FAA

FAA Modernization And Reform Act 2012
[H.R.658.ENR] SEC.336

Again none of my comments are ment as an argument they are meant to be informative please feel free to research the laws I am speaking about I just want to keep everyone safe and Free.

PSJO you are getting better. i gave up on planes and moved to quads.

What? Why is FPV not legal past LOS... LOL there are 1,000s of videos on that.

I like how your "D" in DJO came out as a instead

I've had 2.4 issues there too from the middle school's WiFi I believe. So that's why I want to go UHF

FAA MODERNIZATION AND REFORM ACT OF
2012
CONFERENCE REPORT
TO ACCOMPANY
H.R. 658

SEC. 336. SPECIAL RULE FOR MODEL AIRCRAFT.
(a) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding any other provision of law
relating to the incorporation of unmanned aircraft systems into Federal
Aviation Administration plans and policies, including this subtitle,
the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration may
not promulgate any rule or regulation regarding a model aircraft,
or an aircraft being developed as a model aircraft, if—
(1) the aircraft is flown strictly for hobby or recreational
use;
(2) the aircraft is operated in accordance with a community-
based set of safety guidelines and within the programming
of a nationwide community-based organization;
(3) the aircraft is limited to not more than 55 pounds unless
otherwise certified through a design, construction, inspection,
flight test, and operational safety program administered
by a community-based organization;
(4) the aircraft is operated in a manner that does not interfere
with and gives way to any manned aircraft; and
(5) when flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator
of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air
traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at
the airport) with prior notice of the operation (model aircraft
operators flying from a permanent location within 5 miles of an
airport should establish a mutually-agreed upon operating procedure
with the airport operator and the airport air traffic control
tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport)).
(b) STATUTORY CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this section shall
be construed to limit the authority of the Administrator to pursue
enforcement action against persons operating model aircraft who endanger
the safety of the national airspace system.
(c) MODEL AIRCRAFT DEFINED.—In this section, the term ‘‘model
aircraft’’ means an unmanned aircraft that is—
(1) capable of sustained flight in the atmosphere;
(2) flown within visual line of sight of the person operating
the aircraft; and
(3) flown for hobby or recreational purpose
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rule of thumb I use is if i take off the goggles I can see my model. I would say up to 1 mile with no obstructions is LOS. beyond that its gray area. will they care probally not.

LOLOLOLOL check this out. Turns out that I was flying it around 2,100 feet away!

So.... ya the DX5e still has pretty sweet range, even from inside a car.
