I know someone who built an Atlantis with all the accessories and enhancements. Looked great. Unfortunately it was so heavy, it barely stayed afloat and there was never enough wind to get it to move (lol) Good luck with your build...

Your rudder servo linkage geometry looks like one I made on a powerboat once.

Someone alerted me to the fact that unless the two arms are perfectly parallel, it won't work properly.

As the servo turns it will be pushing to increase the distance between itself and the rudder post, the way you have it set up now... unless that's just the camera tricking me, if so my apologies.

The holes on the rudder arm have to be the same distance apart as the holes on the servo to solve this.

Regards,

- Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for the concern but there is enough "play" in the rudder arm and servo arm holes to allow free movement in either direction. It doesn't bind at all no matter what position its in.

I'va already done the bathtub flotation test and its plenty bouyant! I might have to add more weigh to get it down to the waterline.

As for wind...I firmly believe more is better,, I'd rather be in a gale than looking for every little gust of wind. This is going to be a boat thats afraid of nothing (and if the wind dies, two motors will bring her back!)

I'm just in the process of building one but done away with the motor idea and prop tube/prop after all it's a sailing boat.
I have faired the rudder post and about to plank the deck in Lime and Cedar 5mm planking should look a treat.

Now why didn't I think of that???

I still don't know what color it will be, but leaning towards black with a white bottom.

With some decent taping and covering, the decks will be fine when the boat is upside down for painting.
