Well finally was able to take it for a flight after redoing the wire lengths. Flies great now, with no motor cutout. The sorta duct work I did improved the speed a bit. Think I will try it with 5s next and also need to get a paint job on this thing

Cant seem to find tape measure. Believe its around 50 or so length. Is at least a foot longer than my tomhe f22 and schumate f22

Well started to paint this last night with krylon fusion. Its been a while since ive spray painted a bird and i was thinking thats the right stuff. Already a few beers in i thought about spraying a test on scrap foam and said nah its good. Whoops.

Now you have reduced them to proper size. Question-- Are you maintaining that "size " and/or volumn from intakes to the fan? The pic you posted looks like they change in size as they go back to meet the fan. Must be the same all the way.

Hmm. Yea they arent 100% but i figured something would be better than nothing. One day ill get it down to a t making custom ducts. I knew the intake was way too big thats why i lessened. Probably didnt do it the best way but i just angled the top intake cover on each side down more. Im about to go fly it on a 5s 3000 to see how that does. Was only getting 500 watts out of the 4s. Think i will stick with single intake planes for a while as ducting is much easier. Im sure if i could figure out cad i could just make some ribs for the intake and then just skin it.

Edit. Back from flying. Flies notably faster and has much better sound. Still not yet where i want it but think ill leave it as is. I might add ailerons though cause my small elevons arent giving it much authority

Stinger..Have you ever tried the Krylon Short -Cuts?? They worked great on the Meteor (EPO I think)and on the test pieces for the Bandit.($Tree ) I know that they will eat the softer foams..like packing stuff, even the stiffer packing stuff, unless covered. $4 a can at JoAnn Fabrics.

I usually use testors but its 5 bucks a can for half the size of a normal can. Krylon used to make one called h20 and its been a while so i was thinking it was fusion but then i remembered. Ill have a vid of this bird in morning. Now that i tested the 5s i have enough batts to fly my 3 edfs at same time

Cool build, I have Schumate F18 plans blown up to about 150% for twin 70's. Yet to be built, to many other projects I run the Detrum 70mm combos on 5s, they really come alive! over 900 watts @ 56 amps. and they have held up well. You could cover the plane with a coat of water based poly and talc prior to paint. It sands super smooth, it seals the foam so you wont have any problems with non water based paints eating the foam. Would love to see a flight video

How does the talc and water poly work??? Are you coating plane w/talcum powder then poly over it???? Never seen before. Sounds better than my masking paper and white elmers glue.

you put the talc in the poly. it sorta acts like micro ballons does for resin. fills the small holes/weave,/etc....

This method is great for a quick smooth surface to get ready for paint, it has 0 structural qualities, where as your glue with paper/silk span/cloth adds some bit of structural qualities and benefits.

But like i said cant beat it for quick, light wieght, smooth finish to your bare foam
