HJ V997 Mini Pet

I purchased the HJ V997 Mini Pet in the "Bee" style. There is also a Ladybug "Ladybird" style and a "UFO". At MyRCMart.com these little quads list for $24.99 and with shipping and handling are about $40 shipped to the US. This thing flies FANTASTIC!!! It's perfect for a beginner and lots of fun and practice for quad pilots that want to save their big batteries for something else. They can take quite a beating, flip on over and fly again. I have already replaced some parts on mine but I've also put it through the ringer doing aerobatics and obstacle negotiation. My wife liked mine so much I bought her one. Then I bought more for Christmas gifts. I would recommend this little bird for anyone that wants to get into multirotor aircraft. Several of my friends and acquaintances have already purchased one and enjoy them.
Anyway, here is my wife flying hers and she has never flown anything until she got this.

Hi Ron,
It is a nice flying micro.
It is also good to see that someone finally named it correctly There is an older miss-named thread on it here too: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...highlight=v977

BTW it has the same flight controller board as the MJX X100 and it will bind with the MJX Tx too.

Cheers,
Jim

Jim,
Thanks for the info on the MJX. I'll have to do a search and see if there is a module I can get so I can use my DX6i.

kosem,
Thanks. Now if the wind and rain would let up, I may be able to get her out to fly some more. Ha ha!

I have one.
It has been my first quad, so I crashed it many, many, many times.
I bought spare, but until now I chnaged only two props.
One motor's bottom cap opened. I pushed it back and it's like new.
A motor holder broke. I fixed it with ca glue and it's like new.
Battery holder is broken but still keeps battery in place.
I fly it everyday, and it can still hover in the same place without touching the tx for may seconds. It's amazing.

Now I have a hubsan x4 too.
It's totally different.
Mini pet looks less powerful, less reactive, less precise, but I still can't say wich one I like more.
They fly so different that each one can do different things indoor.

I love it

I love my MP too. It's probably the most durable mini you can get and those LEDs are perfect for night flying.

I have a question...
My X4, v929, v949 if are not leveled on the ground, for example with 2 feet on the floor and 2 feet on a book, will spin only 2 props trying to get leveled.
My mini-pet does not do this, it spins all 4 props everytime.
Is this normal for mini pet?
I'm asking it because my toy flies well, ok, but not as well as people say, and since the first day I made a short with the battery causing bad "burnt" smell, maybe something fried. It's very enjoyable, but I would like to know that...
Thanks.

Massive Overkill and Gerry, Both are fantastic ideas. I think I may get a camera box at Harbor Freight to make a case for mine.

Here is my MJX x100 / Mini Pet V997 to show the slight differences:

This is an x100 with a MP bee canopy and MP rear motors. I will add the MP motors to the front as well when they arrive. Takes less than 2 minutes to do. I destroyed an original x100 motor trying to change a broken cage. The replacement MP motors came from MassiveRC.

The x100 has orange front, black rear, motor cages with protuding stabilizer arms that break easily. The MP are all silver and incorporate the stabilizer into the motor cage for a cleaner, more robust design. The MP motors stand slightly shorter due the way the rubber foot is mounted.

Also, my x100 has the red/blue flashing led's at the front while the MP has white led's at the front. Easily changed, of course

In the mean time, there are no issues flying with a mixture.

regards . . . g

When does the minipet calibrate its accelerometers, at power up? Does it need to be level when the battery is plugged in?

M,
The Mini Pet V997 does not do or have an accelerometer calibration. You can bind it at any angle and fly it and it will still self-level, so the accelerometer calibration is permanently set at the factory. The gyro's zeroize about 3 second after the bind when the LED goes from fast blink to solid. Note that it must be perfectly still for the LED to go solid.
Cheers,
Jim
