27% Ultimate...Is a G62 too much?

Hi All,

I'm trying to use up some "I already got the stuff" projects this winter and avoid buying too many more arfs or engines. To that end, Is a g62 with RC ignitions mech advance ( no springer ) going to be too much to fit in and balance in a 27% world models Ultimate?

It doesn't need to be light and floaty as I'm not much of a 3D guy, but it would be nice if it wasn't too heavy to land comfortably.

What else is around in the way of a reasonably priced airframe that would be suitable for this gasser? I've looked at the seagull sparrowhawk 62CC? It seems to be one of the only ones around specifying a 62.

That Ultimate is designed for a lightweight 50cc. The G62 is a great engine, but heavy. By the time you got it balanced that plane would be fat. I see a lot of G62's on big scale warbirds.

Agree too much, no too heavy yes. You can always throttle back never too much but the weight is not for this plane...try again.

This was my fear, Just wondered if someone had done it. Biplanes seem to come out tail heavy anyway, and I've had to add weight to them (up front) to get balance. One, in fact was a smaller ultimate. Hence the Query.

I flew a Godfrey Lazer 200 with 100"ws at around 22lbs with a G-62 in IMAC for 2 seasons, so i'd say anything out there for a 50cc you could make the G-62 work. You can allways offset the motor weight by locateing the servos and batteries in the rear of the plane. The G-62 is a great motor, but it does carry some weight.......Gene
