It MIGHT be closer to $900 for that mill in the USA, when it gets here...
The PIPE here...I just did a currency conversion from yen to US dollars for the price on that new OS GF-40 four-stroke gasser mill...
...and I was shocked to find we've possibly got a price, using current conversion rates, of some $887.25 for that new GF-40 mill.
Now, I KNOW I shouldn't be "complaining", as the GF-40 seems like a mill that's expensive enough to have the saying that "if one has to ask how much it costs, one can't afford it" be a very true statement. Then again, in my case, I'd lke to be able to spin, say, a 22 x 6 or 22 x 8 inch prop with a mill like that for WW I quarter scale flying someday with a fully-scale-layout, lightly built airframe. The existing Saito FG-36 four-stroke gasser mill has a 32.00mm stroke figure, with the new OS has a VERY slightly shorter stroke of 31.8 mm. And where the stroke CAN be a big determinant in the output torque of the mill, that IS an important figure to know.
And "no", I can't read the kanji script of the Nihongo (the Japanese language's own name for itself) in that PDF file, but I just "did the math" to get the swept volume (radius of cylinder bore squared times pi, then times the stroke) from the figures in the PDF ad, and the 31.8 mm stroke figure works out nicely for the GF-40, with a resulting 39.96 cm3 of displacement.
However, IF one's got their heart set on the new OS GF-40 "putt-putt gasser mill", START SAVING...it could be as high as $889.00 when it finally gets here. or even higher......I'm just hoping that I'm wrong about that !!

Howdy over here in Aus the saito 36 is nearly $700 . I imagine the os will come down in price somewhat . IAs the wise ole pipe says start saving and thats my plan . I now have enough glow ,4st , saito twin and petrol engines to last a lifetime so from now I will just concentrate on engines like the os 40 and if I can get one of those Im done ! Well thats what I say anyway but it doesnt seem to work that way . Cheers the pope

GT22 is 36,000 Yen and it's priced less than the ~450USD the exchange rate would indicate. That's MSRP. I have nothing against their pricing. If you want OS, you have to pay for OS. We all know a difference of just over half a percent in stroke means nothing in performance. Saito also has a FG-40 slated. I'm sure the prices will be similar.
