hobbyking namc ys-11

for $70 something, i cant believe theres not a whole thread, full of happy owners. i just ordered this bird from HK. it was $95 while ago & i was sooo tempted to get it, but since they've lowered it to $70, i could'nt resist. fiberglass fueselage!! im going to install retracts, & plan to run 3 and 4cell batts. im waiting till i get the plane, but im thinking 28 or 35mm motor. 1100kv-1450kv. counter rotating props. ive only found 1-2 old, small threads about this bird. so any info or comments are appreciated. i cant believe, this bird is not more popular. someone else buy one, and we'll build them together.

This is a nice turboprop arf . . .I saw one for sale at Perry Georgia swap meet last year, I personally its not very scale and it dosnt really look that much like the YS-11. . .. . . .but that's my impression.

I guess scale is in the eye of the beholder.

ive never been a scale nut. scale doesnt matter much to me. i like it because its cool looking. any time ive ever re-painted a plane, ive never painted them scale. ive always painted them the way i wanted to. i was at perry last year, wish i would have seen it then.

thanks. the work ive done to it is un-real. i put inner gear doors on it, tailwheel retract, eflite power 25, 1250kv, the razorback is removable - so i can still fly as d-model, brass exhaust pipes, weathered, servo-slow down module for flaps, dubro tires on stock wheels. ill post some pics. im still planning to put lights on and the cockpit mod. ive got the most heavily modified parkzone p-47 here on rcgroups.

OH BABY, BABY!!!!! got the retracts for my ys-11 today, and man are these things sweet. i cant believe i paid $95 for my first eflite (plastic) retracts only. i got these all aluminum, oleo, struts, with wheels & tires for $14, and the all aluminum retracts for $35. im not a scale nut, but i was lucky to find these scale wheels for the ys-11. they're going to look very good on it.

hey demon, ive been checking out a lot of your incredible work, and was thinking. you should design and build an exotic, futureistic, type airline. maybe something like the plane in the movie "ironman". or burt rutan's twin pusher. if you havent already. you've got some mad-building-skills.
