Well, E-flight's small BL motors have a pretty stellar track record when being over-driven. None of the 2S UMX motors have failed on 3S yet. Remember, there are no brushes, so you'd have to melt the insulation. And 3S->4S is less of an over-drive than 2S->3S.

You will have other problems before wrecking the motor, like melting the motor mount. Ask me how I know... static test... it took 1.5 minutes at 1/2 throttle on 3S to melt the motor mount in my Sbach. It has never happened in flight!

Nice! 7 grams lighter than what I got and every gram helps. I agree 12a is probably sufficient even running a 7x4 prop and, as pointed out before, 150w on 4S is a little under 10a anyway. 150w would get us to that magical 300w/lb!

Here is a 10g, 12amp esc with 6v output on the BEC. Not sure if the servos in this plane can handle 6v though, but if they can this would be what i'll be replacing the stock esc with http://twistedhobbys.com/ESC-Twisted...ESC-TH-12A.htm

Edit...i think the 3.5 gram digital servos in this plane can only go up to 4.8 volts.

Possibly. I'll look when I take it off. Just got back from my LHS. I've now got several GWS 7035 props and 3 fresh batteries (2 stock and 1 ThunderPower) to test out. Fingers crossed that I get it running properly.

What the heck size is the set screw on the prop adapter? I don't appear to have anything small enough to fit in there. Why would they put something so small on there and not give you a tool to fit it?? I've got a full standard and metric set of allen wrenches and they are all too big!

Edit... found it. Smallest standard available...

Christmas came early for me! Had a coupon for $20 off, so wife bought her for me. She was going to make me wait until Christmas but I got her an iPad and she couldn't wait for it! Neat little plane, going to throw an APC prop on her. I have an 8x4 but I think that pulls too much amps, going to grab the suggested 7x4.

I'm not sure I'd characterize that as "only". My 18amp ESC weighs 19 grams and the 12amp one suggested from Hobbywing weighs 13 grams. But I don't know what the stocker is.

Seems like the consensus is that you best throw in a larger esc if you put the apc 7x4 in there. It's awful close to being too much for the stock esc. But none of the measurements were taken when flying, so who knows, it might be fine.

I am curious as well. I have the GWS DD-7035 (7x3.5) en route now. This is only a .200" in diameter increase over stock. Have they really made a plane already maxed out on the ESC?

I'm pretty sure the stock esc is 13g.

No... he's talking about a 7x4. 7x3.5 seems to be OK for the most part. But yeah... it's very close to being maxed out with the 3.5.
