he works for the largest hobby corporation out there. the bean counters have a huge say in what can and cannot be done. even a million dollar ferrari enzo is garbage (performance wise) to a ferrari f1 car. there can always be performance mods to any and all things that are mass produced. i.e. the control rods and landing gear could be upgraded from steel to carbon fiber, u can direct solder the motor to esc and have everything direct soldered to a housing-less rx, the shrink wrap removed from batts and all wires shortened, screws removed from servo housing and instead glued together, remove pilot, wheel pants, spinner etc
and those r only the diet mods.

That combo puts out around 800 watts, I haven't tried the 13x6.5 yet, motor is good for 1000 watts plus so it should be fine. It weighs about 5 ounces less than stock, the guys at the field can't believe how slow it goes without stalling, it's got some float to it. The other yak has a hyperion 3025 motor, hs5085 servos, ar8000 with telemetry, 80amp esc, hyperion 2950mah 4s 35c and a 12x7 vox prop. That combo puts out around 1200 watts, it's fast and furious but flies like a brick, not much float.
thats not a fair 3s to 4s comparison. ditch the ar8000 with TM for an ar400 and try an 1800mah 4s on the hyperion 3020 on a 12x6 vox

Oh well, at least the batteries will probably be cheaper :-)

Tom

I'll be first to admit,,, I'm not an expert in this area. Just asking
Ducted fan DOESN'T displace air over a large area of control surfaces, ducted fan pushes, as where a propeller generally pulls,,, Am I missing something???
Way I figure ,,, ducted fan not TOO much different than a jet,,, maybe a rpm difference, and number of blades,,, but really similar in concept???
So,,, to sumerize,,, prop pulls large volume of air over control surfaces,, and ducted fan PUSHES smaller volume at higher velocities ?? Do I have that right??
WARNING! DO NOT READ

this is merely a reply to airman. this is off topic so please do not read this post if you might get offended by off topic chatter between 2 people.

a jet turbine is NOT the same as an edf or prop.
i agree completely that a PROP and EDF are essentially the same thing.
yes, u r missing something. i won't/can't teach engineering/science principles in an open forum for risk of offending some specific people that do not wish to learn.
just wiki "jet turbine." wiki is not a valid reference but, u should be able to gets some useful info

something u wont find in wiki - a prop can push or pull. same as jet turbines can push or pull (push like an f16 or pull on the wings like a 747)
