Well, after months of faffing about with the 3d model I have finally got the full scale propellers back from the printers, and I couldn't be happier

They look great on the plane (even though mine is a bit worn ) and upon initial taxi tests, they seem to perform just as expected. I won't be able to do proper throttle tests until I have made the mold and cast some props from the correct material. These props are just the plastic from the printer and it's a little brittle. That should be by the end of next week.

In the mean time here are some pics to enjoy.

4s for the first batch of trials. The blade is a lot bigger than stock so 5s will not be on the cards.

Also have a 420KV motor just in case the stock motors RPM is too high, or it's not got enough torque. I think it will be fine though.

I love the look of this props. Are expected to perform ok with the stock motor and ESC? Are you planning to sell the sets? I'm in!

Hi mate,

My goal is to have these work with the stock power train the plane comes with, however I wont know how much current they draw etc until later this week. I ran out of material to make the mold so I am just waiting for a new batch of material to arrive.

Once I sort out the power details and get the mold process sorted, I do intend on selling them. I know there are at least a few people out there who will appreciate a set of functional scale blades for their 190's.

I have been using a set of steves shorter scale blades he originally made with more pitch on my fms bf109 and very impressed with them
They balanced perfectly and due to the paddle and increased pitch I was getting better performance out if my 109 with no extra heat or noticeable change in flight times

Ok all,

The first half of the mold is curing as I type and will hopefully be set in the morning. I am hoping to have the mold completed by Wednesday and therefore have the first set of cast blades ready to go by the afternoon.

What do you use for the prop material?

I use a material called smooth-on Onyx. It's a two part resin and has so far proven to be quite a good material.

Mold is all done now. It turned out perfect

I have cast my first set of blades but I need to redo one as the mold wasn't clamped correctly causing that blade to weigh 1g less than the other two ?? No big deal.

I'll be doing amp draw tests tomorrow and based on the results may or may not have a fly.

I've added the test flight video to the first post in this blog thread.

The flight went very well, but I do need to increase the pitch very slightly.

At WOT the motor was drawing 43A and consuming 600W of power. Plenty of room for a pitch increase

Ok,

I have now put a 1mm shim in the blade root and have done a static throttle run up with the watts meter. 776 watts peak at WOT, much better than without the shims.
