Well, I had a Micro Bandit airframe that just wasn`t working out the way I wanted it to, so I decided that instead of letting all of that work go to waste, I would salvage parts from it to do my first larger NST. This one will have the 35mm SA fan, because I need to order some 30mm stuff.

Should be able to fly this pretty soon. This is just stuck together, and a new, redesigned airframe will follow, but I will put this in the air in the mean time and see what it will do.

yeah, i had the same problem turing the electrolyte into a delta, i had to mod inlets to move fan 1" farther back....and it was a 3oz motor, and i still had issues with cg lol.

i really like the new design, reminds me that i should build more from balsa.

While the wing was off, I also opened up the cheater hole a little more and got a better path into the fan.

I broke my glasses last weekend (they needed to be replaced anyway) so I`m stuck with a 10 year old prescription until my new glasses get here. They are supposed to be here by Sat, so I think I`ll wait on them before I fly it again.

I flew it Saturday with the old glasses. As long as everything goes smoothly I can manage, but if I get in a bad situation it`s harder to recover. That was part of the reason for nose #3.

In the mean time, I`ll work on the curvy airframe.

Hey Brent. Glad you like the little F-5 that ended up being more like an F-20

It really flew pretty well once I added ailerons and put it on 3s. I was always changing something on it and never really got it dialed in, but when I build another one I can get it right and keep it lighter. Prototypes rarely survive the development process and stay pretty too.

Did you see my Nanospot 4s video in post #100, not much of the jet in frame, but it sure sounds cool. LOL

Thanks bud. This is quite a little jet. Nothing ground breaking but just a nice, fast sweet flier. It`s performance makes a Micro Stryker look like a trainer.

One other thing that I`ve added to the list of "must haves" on the new NST.

7) Fan unit must be removable for service without cutting up the airframe.

The proto had the fan and motor leads glued into place. I was able to replace the rotor once with only minor cutting, but anything to do with the shroud or the motor was impossible to do without almost destroying the airframe.

The new one will have a fan that can be removed.

Bret, I'm talking about my little foam wing, not your molded, ducted bullet of a micro jet.

Oops..my bad! In defense of your foam wing though, you've successfully pushed that jpower fan farther than anyone else. A little glass version would be a heck of a park flyer!

We'll see what she can do. I'm rewinding a SA motor and have an 18a esc for this one and three sets of 4s 450 65c. I plan to push the rewind to at least 200w maybe a little more. Should be interesting.

I know you are trying to go faster but i must say the shape of the first airframe (top of page)was just badass!

This is the same airframe, just changed with permanent parts, and I sanded down the canopy. So you liked the bigger canopy better? Yeah that one was more for looks, on the Bandit fuselage.
