Yes it definitely needs a video to validate the speed. I'm not sure it's accurate, but the temperature was set correctly and most of the passes were good I think. I'll get it back together and get some video later this week.

Here`s the damage from this morning. I`m still not sure what happened, but I think it was most likely interference. I thought that I got hit in roughly the same spot on another pass, but wasn`t sure. Anyway, its repairable. I`ll pick a better spot to fly it in when I do a video.

Oh, #&%*@!?......you weren't supposed to see that!

No, seriously, it's just extension wire for one of the servos. It's #28 magnet wire. Works well as light weight leads most anything as long as the amps aren't too high.

Just about have the repairs done. Also added a 1/8" carbon tube for some center support. I was able to shift gear a little farther back and remove a penny that I had used to help the cg. So, even with the repairs and the added carbon, I`ve shed 3 grams, so the AUW with 3s is 87g, just a little over 3oz.

I`ll try to get some video soon. I`m glad to get it back together, this is a sweet flying little jet, with lots of power.

Well, Fan unit and Lipos, with just enough airframe to guide it around.

I found one of the servos to be bad. It got hot and started sticking at full throw after some repeated action. This may have been the cause of the crash because the servos were getting a pretty good workout. During the flight, the servos are working almost constantly.

Take a look at the times on the RC Speedo screen shot. Many of the passes were only 8 seconds apart. Lots of turnin` going on with the burnin`.

Got in two flights this morning, sorry no vid yet. Well, I guess I screwed up yesterday. I thought that I had set the temp correctly, but it looks like it didn`t take, so the readings were set for 80F instead of 40F.

The two flights this morning show consistent passes between 68 and 70 mph.

I`m sorry about the bad info. Thanks to everyone for not calling BS, even though I`m sure many of you guys were thinking it. I would have been.

Got the trim dialed in and it flies fine at 87g. More flights and some good video soon.
It flew super smooth, that servo was giving me more trouble than I thought.

LOL yeah, right. So what is considered really fast for a sub-40mm class? How does 70mph stack up.

I just ordered some 65c 450mah cells.

Right now I'm only at 100 watts. I'm thinking 200w in a slightly larger airframe might be faster

Good question Lee! I believe you are as fast as anyone using that J-power fan. 70mph is definitely up there. After a little research the highest documents micro edf speeds to date are:

40mm class: CN's Electrolyte at 120 mph
30mm class: Pdawg's Blowdart at 90 mph
25mm class: Jahel's micro bandit at 62 mph
20mm class: ChrisT's micro Squall at 40 mph

Thanks Bret. I guess I need to read up on your Blowdart.

I just saw your thread about your Electrolyte being accepted by the AMA museum. Congrats, that's quite an honor.

Thanks Lee! Have you tried a thrust tube yet? For a small airframe, your wing design has several advantages going for it! The Blowdart was a very efficient design but a snake in the air. It was built strictly for speed though so you can't always have your cake and eat it too.

So, Nitro's 25mm Micro Hawk at 72mph misses a mention...
