Thanks. I'll take another look at it. I think it needs some support near the vertical bend but maybe something much shorter to reduce any possible binding.

Wow, have I been busy and traveling, just now catching up and discovering your great build Lee! Very nice progress and design I might say. 35mm should be a great choice for motivation and I love the new curves on the fuselage (no offense Dave!).

Guys great thoughts on the tubing, I'll add a couple I have tried CyA glue tip tubing, canned air extension tube, Carbon fiber tubing (the 2mm OD stuff), and aluminum which is lighter than brass.

Fred

Thanks Fred. Yeah I'm happy with the results so far. When I started sanding the fuselage sides I thought they would just be an experiment, but they came out so nice that they soon became an airframe. I'll be getting fans today. Then I can move forward with gear placement. Maybe a low powered maiden this weekend.

Fitting the fan. I`ve rolled some pre-cured fiberglass sheet to make a front intake extension to fill the gap between the fan and the sanded foam intake ducts. I have it tacked in place but still need to make an efflux tube.

Thrust Question

I`ve tested the thrust on 3s (nose down on a gram scale). I`m only showing about 48g of thrust. I`m sure I`m loosing some thrust due to turbulence and drag in the efflux area, but only 1.75oz of installed thrust? My exit dia is 25mm.

That's with the wing and intake tube in place, but I also checked it with the wing off and the bell lip only for the intake and got about the same numbers.

The esc is an old one and it may be robbing some power. I have a new Hobbywing 12a that will be here tomorrow. I'll try it and an efflux tube and see if thrust improves any.

I have some new 25c Nanotech 370mah. If those aren't strong enough, I could run it on a large 3s that will hold full voltage to compare numbers.

Exactly! TP all the way.
Loose the crappotechs. They're no good for high demand edf's.
