MONSOON from Hobby King

I was looking at all the threads here under sailboat and was not able to see any with this boat.
So I am thinking whay not and here is one open for info exchange...
Mine so fare is all stock but I am thinking of applying few mods, where do I start???
Do you people have mods installed on it that you could share some info on, pictures maybe...
I just got one as new sailboater and it would be nice to see and hear from other owners.
Lets do it here...
Thanks

There are quite a few threads about this boat with lots of those answers. Just do a search.

There is extended discussion and modification of the Monsoon and other boats from the same manufacturer (Shunbo) at www.shipshaperc.com - the forum specialises in the budget Chinese boats

Main issue with the Monsoon is the hatch I believe....
Even straight out of the box they sail very well, good boat for $100

A forum search, that took about 10 seconds to do, came up with five pages of results. You can find lots more but here are two quick links, both 100% free, one to a thread on RC Groups and one to Model Boat Mayhem:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...hlight=monsoon

http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/for...?topic=14796.0

I really don't understand why people say they searched but don't find anything. Or is it just being lazy.

Sent you some information on tweaking the Monsoon and a few links for you to take a look at. The Mosoon sails just fine and with a few minor "fixes" it can be a decent boat and to my senses, it represent an inexpensive way to get started.

We all have our point of view on the Hobbyking boats, but for those of us that have actually owned one, or even two, know they can provide years of fun and help us learn about RC sailing. My first boat was a Nirvana, and then I got a Mosoon which I sailed regularly for over 2 1/2 years, sold it to a friend and he is still sailing it.

There are many finer boats out there but they come at a higher price. For
me, my starter boats served me well and some 2 dozen boats later I still love the hobby!

Welcome to this great past time - let us know how you progress with your new boat and of any refinements you make to it. I attached a few pictures of my Monsoon -

Enjoy

FA some people are just better or luckier than others when it comes to searching - my son just gets better results than I do it all depends how you go about searching and some people just have a knack for it.

For better or for worse (and in many ways for worse, IMHO) searching online to access information is something people need to do in this crazy, futuristic 21st century. Any person able to navigate to this site, sign up for an account and start a new topic should be able to search the forum with a simple keyword, like MONSOON. There's no luck involved.

I have never seen the HK boats sailed anywhere but here online. My opinion is if I buy a boat it should sail well out of the box. If I have to change the majority of parts, build a new sail rig, and replace the sails. well I might as well spend my money on something else.
I know there are those here on line that hate these initials but go onto the AMYA site and see what is sailed there. And no you do not have to be a racer to sail.
You get what you pay for !!!

Amigo
The minor things I did to my Monsoon costs less than $5.00 and there were no parts replaced. Every boat I have owned sailed pretty well stock. They all sailed better after I made some minor upgrades. For me making my boats the best they can be is fun and all part of the hobby.

A Nirvana sails well out of the box, it sails better once it is tuned correctly and even better with a set of aftermarket racing sails. Same for a Seawind or a Vela or a Victoria etc. Just saying...............many of us enjoy tinkering with these things - personalizing them - again, that is a part of the fun.
