I got the motor mount installed. The ESC is fitted but not glued in. Aileron servos and ESC are hooked up to my rx. The topside of the fuse is also glued on. I'll add a carbon strut to the nose and one further back just to keep the top straight.

The ailerons are 95% completed. I just have to screw the servo horn screws in. Both surfaces are already trimmed and programmed in my Dx8.

Sorry guys, there is very slight vulgarity in the videos. Only one incident per video though.

I lived to fly much much longer. We then engaged in streamer combat which eventually turned into full combat. I now have a servered signal wire on rudder, a missing wing tip and rudder, as well as missing reinforcement.

I'll be building another one soon. This was just great. It did knife edges with nearly zero input, held direction, did what it was supposed to do.

I must say that it is quite ballistic on 3s. I forgot that Eflite's smaller ESCs have to be reset for 2s or 3s applications, so I just left it in 3s mode and used Nanotech 3s 370mah lipos. It could get from one end of the basketball court (line to line) to the other in maybe 2.5 seconds.

Thanks. I was getting a little irritated in the second video (no sleep in days) so it could have been better. It tail slides easily. I managed a few from the ceiling down to about head height.

The first time I punched, with a Dura-thrust 8043 prop, I nearly hit the ceiling rafters.

It is not a fast roller compared to other planes, but it's consistent and responsive. The elevator turned out to be just fine. Rudder was overkill for KE, but allowed it to turn on a dime almost. I'll update, rebuild, then post plans.

When you really get good and start bashing on a plane you'll notice more things. Too big of an elevator is not really an issue for flying around and doing mild 3D, but it you start doing things that demand full throw of the elevator you'll notice blowback, it will also slow the plane more, and these two things will make it actually respond a little slower than a smaller elevator, which will get frustrating.
LOTS AND LOTS of aileron is important, for when you want to flick the airplane inverted in a splitsecond while it's stalled. Overkill rudder is ok though.

What I have learned you can have too big ailerons, they will make the plane roll VERY fast(~700 per second) but it really slows the plane down(especially if you have big counter-balences)

If you have really large control surfaces then you don't need to run as much throw. Overall, bigger is better for this one. But other complications arise such as keeping the ailerons stiff, how much throw you need, and if you get big enough, how you'll keep the wing stiff.
Here's my Swift, this is the second prototype by the way.

Plane slows down? BIG motor. Your little 12s can't push much more than 8 ounces, I have one too, I should know.
the Cobra 2204/40 on my plane hauls 14 ounces of thrust on that prop. Having that burst power really helps too if your goal is a 3D plane. Weight isn't too big of a deal, mine is around 6 ounces with the battery, and it's a 34 inch span airplane. It isn't the slowest thing around, but it is quick and nimble, and it holds good speed in a rolling harrier. All good things!
But all this is a matter of opinion, if you are not making an aero-musical airplane or want it slow and precise then light is more important.
