Yes, and it was his own pet cat that had died before it was taxidermied, so it's not like some poor animal was sacrificed for "art".

I'm all about sourcing my pet based structural components from the good old USA... There's just no way I could trust a pelt I didn't help grow. Unfortunately, maltese dogs are terribly draggy, so the next build will have to be a low speed model...

Cheers,

LOL, ahh frank he meant I understand you, you know got you man or I get you man. Now I understand your "hatemail" comment, you misunderstood understanding for hating. All good.

By the way 2 of us have requested you include HK in your list in your blog, I also added Hoverfly (we have actually been through this before). I can put up links to their vids (again) to demonstarte they are 100% designed and made in the good ol USA . I have 3 of their products. Your stint into multirotors should probably include purchasing a HF sport or better still a pro. You won't look back. We use one setup at work to carry various camera payloads and configurations for R&D. If you need advice PM me, you can do it all with Czech (Axi only way to motor) and USA parts.

My local hobby shop owner has a real Little man complex. His father started the shop decades ago and now the spoiled son owns it. This person gives a bad name to LHS. I have personally com across over 25 people or more telling how they were treated in the shop and why they will never go back. His shop is literally 5 minutes away from my house and I would rather wait two weeks to get a part than togo there.

They, by and large, could get away with this attitude pre mid-1990's before internet commerce really took off. Unfortunately, so many in the LHS biz have never realized that. They *used* to be the only game in town, literally, if you didn't want to spend hours on the phone ordering out of catalogs. Not anymore...

What hobby shop in New Haven?

I do buy local. Recently bought a PZ alby, a flyzone beaver and a durartax Baja bug. All at my LHS. And in the last year I also bought a FMS mustang, a PZ wilcat and a FMS Cessna from them.

The shop was SN Hobbies, but they aren't state side so they don't couunt here.

Add USA to the titles of these threads and it will probably save some grief. After all there is absolutely nothing wrong with having all USA vendor / manufacture threads, and there would be no confusion on why a non USA shop / item / vendor is not included.

Not dissing Frank and his great efforts by any means, just a thought.

I will not got to my local hobby shop because,
1) Most items I want/need, he doesn't have and hear, "But, we can order it." (I can too, for 1/3rd the price)
2) Referring to price. I can buy online tons more for the same amount.

My LHS will order what I want, match or beat the online retail price, and I don't have to pay shipping.

Plus I get to talk RC when I go in.

I seem to be really lucky, looking back at this old thread.

To a degree, I agree with your experience.

But when I go to the local joint for a tube of CA and a roll of white covering material and they tell me, "no... but we can order it", I have wasted my time.
Unfortunately, when I did ask them to go ahead and order it for me, they charged me full retail.

I haven't been in there since.
I plan my projects ahead of time, keep plenty of supplies on hand, and let the delivery people drop it at my door.

The only LHS with in a hundred miles specializes in RC cars and
trucks. They have some airplane stuff, and almost every thing
for Blade helios. So we get our helio stuff there. They can't even
get close to Hobbypartz and Headsup on prices. It is nearly a
sixty mile round trip as well. We get planes from Tower for the
most part. With the amount we spend and the discounts and
free shipping, it is no contest.

We like to give his some business because he supports our
local club with give aways at the flyins.
