The firewall is 3/16 hard ply. Figured the nose sheeting had to be in place before more could be done with the uc struts.... then the firewall has to be in place before the nose sheeting....
Not yet certain where the battery will go. The bottom sheet has been tack glued in place for sanding, guessing it will be the hatch.

Thanks Robert, I have been searching for a 1/8 scale figure. Preferably, one of Lindberg to have for display with the model plane. I've not had much luck. Any ideas?

I tend to bounce around on a project, moving from one thing to another. Satisfied one wheel was done, we proceeded to the cowl. Now it's back to the other wheel.
I wonder if that's a form of ADD.
The wood structure of the cowl and forward fuselage will not be finished smoothly, since they will be aluminum sheeted. Glad I was talked out of the foil tape sceme!

With a highly valued model like this, I would use only the best RC gear I can get with emphasis on adequate and reliable power to the receiver and servos. ( maybe a flight battery pack instead of relying on a built-in or add-on switch-mode BEC)

Been using E-Flight motors with Castle Thunderbird esc's and Spectrum rx's without incident. The intention is the same on this model.

Excellent work on the wheels.

I don't know if you can get this in the US,but its light, inexpensive and looks really good. I would imagine its easy to work with.

Thanks for the lead Gavin, do you know of the metalcoat is sheet like? Or more of a foil? I am convinced that I can do a decent job with beverage can aluminum.

I've seen self adhesive aluminium foil before but this looks a little heavier. It seems to hold its form as it comes off the roll and looking at that model EE Lightning has a degree of strength that foil wouldn't have. The only stockist I can find on the web is Mick Reeves in the UK.
