Had a problem with the doculam wrinkling where the te of the wing meets the top corners of the fuselage right behind the wing hold down bolts. The stuff just wouldn't shrink enough to pull tight. I couldn't live with wrinkles in such a conspicuous area, so tried three times cutting them out and patching. Couldn't get rid of them.
So the fourth time was a charm using Solartex for the patches. Always was impressed by the shrink-ability of that stuff.
The Humbrol is not consistent from can to can. I'll pour a few of the tiny cans together (12ml each) for the final coat on the fuselage. Then on to the wing, final sanding and servo installation.

In retrospect, The doculam was most likely not shrinking enough because of my aged monocoat iron. Had to finish the wing covering with a steam iron for clothing, and the doculam did quite well on high medium heat. Up full heat, the steam iron vaporized the stuff!

With the machined aluminum and the graphics, I like it so much. Who would have thought you could use Solartex to patch doculam?

Been having difficulty with the final fuselage coat. Finally figured that the old sable brush that has seen so many paint jobs, was worn out!

Picked up a new one right for the job.

If it had the wing on and was suspended from the ceiling, one would think it was the real deal hanging in the museum.
