Sorry, just couldn't help it. Beside, you must be accustomed to the humour since you fly at the same field RCM does .

Gopro3, Flytron video switch and FY-31AP?

Hi

Due to the lockups of the Hero3 I would like to use the Flytron video switch, this one:

http://www.flytron.com/camera-transm...eo-switch.html

So I would use two cameras and if my Gopro went dead I could switch to my small fpv cam.

Can I use the video switch with FY-31AP and Hornet OSD as the Hornet has only one video input?

Alternatively, is the original Gopro Hero HD version 1 more safe to fly with? Or does it switch off occasionally also? I live in Finland and it can get really cold here. I presume it might be too much for the battery and the Hero might switch off because of cold..

I fly with the hero v1 and it is OK to fly in cold weather. I flew it on my stryker in a snow storm, about -15 C. Videos here and here.

Sorry can't answer your other questions.

I've done some Hero HD flights in quite cold conditions, but letting the battery get cold
was enough of a concern that they built a battery warmer into the Hero2 (and
judging by how warm it gets, the Hero3 as well).
I do think the HD and Hero2 are more reliable cameras in general (so far), but the
Hero3's low light handling blows them both away, which may be relevant if you're
flying winter months in Finland.

Gopro 3 did great until I flew with it

Gopro did great until I flew with it, I going to do my research. I'll try to find the best 12 volt Cam for FPV and just use Gopro for a flight recorder. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Here is probably the most popular cam. Select the 2.8 lens for a few bucks more.

I have the Sony Super HAD CCD II - Great little cam. The metal case for it is awfully heavy. Might 3D print one for it.

Well, I use Pixim 690TVL WDR ... Yes, it is heavy but picture quality is outstanding ...

Guys, just got mine Black (replaced with Silver) ! There was only ONE in stock in my local BestBuy. I hope it will work as good as your posted videos !

But should I go for firmware updated or should I stay with maiden one ?
I'm asking because after first update on my Silver - everything was working properly, even Iphone connection (expect playing previously recorded videos), update has been done on 11.12.12. After final update - done on 12.2.12 it was freezing while being charged.

Since I owned GP2 firmware is a big issue - so let me know you opinion in this matter.

Thank you very much

Alex

Here's a quick flight with my Hero3 Black in 1080p 60fps mode, Medium FOV.

I was trying to fly as smoothly as possible plus I put it through Final Cut Pro stabilizer except for the very last shot where I fly low through the fields and come in for a landing.

Here's another test of the new Hero3.
Shot at Jan Juc in Victoria Australia.
Didn't have it secured to my mount properly so there's a bit of shakiness, apart from that this camera is looking very promising.

Weather was crap, i wanted to test the low light capabilities.

The firmware is still buggy even with the latest.

The GoPro stopped recording 2 times in 720p at 120 fps with protune enabled.
at 1080p at 30fps, the recording did not stop.

i am still waiting for December 14th update where we should have the android app working and i hope they fix the bugs with that update.
