I came across some military surplus turbine oil mil-23699f polyol ester synthetic for a dollar a qt. I heard it works well as lubricant in glow fuel. after some research I found it has many lubrication properties ideal for 2 cycle oil , however the viscosity is very low. I mixed up a qt of 15% fuel with it yesterday, will test in on motor this week. I mix my own fuel and the oil is one of the most expensive components. will see how it works out.

Some turbine oil won't mix with methanol but at a dollar a quart you won't lose much to try it with a sample of methanol first . I've used Mobil Jet Oil II quite successfully but its only drawback is it has a fairly heavy brown dye which can stain some model finishes. BP2380 is a good alternative though because there's no dye in it. I guess the short answer is,if it mixes, you're good to go.

it mixed readily, I let it set 24hrs , it didn't seperate. ran a qt of it through an OS .10 I got on ebay that was very tight (had a slightly scored cylinder) . a quart of fuel 8 oz at a time. engine ran in fine. took it apart , everything appears to be fine. the oil does have a slight amber color to it. will wait and see if stains any covering. I only bought one quart, a buck a quart; think I will get some more :-)

A very long time ago I was an engine fitter in the Aussie air force and if only I'd known back then how good turbine oil was then I'd have had any amount I liked. Whenever we'd do any oil change the oil used to be thrown out and burnt. I'd have no hesitation using drained oil because it was always exceptionally clean and was regularly tested for contaminants during service.

well I would be glad to hook you up with some if it didnt cost so much to ship. your right, it is great oil if a guy has a source for it. retail it's $15 or more a qt. I see your from down under, do you guys down under fly your planes upside down? I miss Australia, spent a few weeks there about 10 years ago. had a blast riding dualsport bikes around Cairns and Cape York. Sidney is pretty amazing too. Aussies are the most fun to party with, they gave me hell about my accent, "I dont have an accent, I'm from California" they would laugh.

I looked around and the stuff is ROYCO 560, $300 plus per case. MSDS is available, Generally is stable stuff. Flash point is 500 degrees F (260C). It is said to be stable. Basic composition is Triresylphosphate. Canada considers it toxic, US says minimal problem. Shipping is treated as standard hazardous material like methanol.

used to mix an 2oz in with my Nitro ducted fan fuel. reason being... the nitro engine could never get hot enough to burn it off. and there would always be some lubrication.
those engines were the 21000rpm type.

I picked up more than I will probably ever need today $2 a quart, price doubled lol. The guy still has some left. A home improvement store in San Leandro Ca. "Johns Home improvement center"
