DIY IR 555 timer help.
I am working on a DIY IR system for a school project.
I would like to use a 555 timer, rather then a PIC for the transmitter, but am a bit stuck.
Could somone with some 555 knowledge give me a hand?
My email is jm.levine[at]btinternet[dot]com
Thank you kindly.

There's quite a reasonable 555 tutorial and a few example ccts at http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/gadgets.htm
That should be enough to get you going. For a single proportional channel think about the servo tester ccts. They're most of the way there.

This is a schematic that Joe Price sent me when him and a few others were talking about a 555 solution in the "DIY IR" thread.
I have not been able to do anything with it since I don't have a Tx with a trainer output. I was fiddling around with the idea of a Playstation IR Tx using a 555 timer when the DIY IR thread took off with Koichi's contributions.
Joe, if you see this and want me to take it down just say the word!
