I saw it. And I'm still trying to figure out why they claimed the 2.4ghz radio they were using only had a range of 50 yards?

Was wondering that too. Maybe they had a longer range, but wanted to add drama to the folks at home

prolly because the Tx and the Rx was both inside planes? 50 yards max maybe.

Because they don't want to make anyone nervous. Remember the dumb a$$ that was planing on sending a turbine model in to a government building?

The range was reduced because metal blocks & scatters RF, which causes shadowing and multi-path problems. The larger the object in terms of wavelengths, the worse the problem becomes. And from a wavelength standpoint, a 727 looks infinitely large to a 2.4 GHz signal - which has a wavelength of approximately 5".
