Anybody think it's strange that we never got to hear from the September plus member of the month...?
Probably because SteveT is an admin over at the new 3d site that was established due to rcg's shady tactics.

I'd like to know how to undo my "beta" RCG Plus status. I'm surely NOT going to pay $50 per year to have "Plus" status. I figured it was bound to play out this way...for free...it was worth it...for $4.95/mo...it is not worth it.

I'm still undecided regarding Google ads intermixed between forum posts...I can deal with ads in the header and footer, but in the middle of the forum posts...that is another issue entirely, and might be the straw that drives me away from this forum for good.

Thankfully there are other forums out there (that are free), especially for the 3D enthusiast.
Use Google to search for a R/C forum devoted specifically to the 3D enthusiast.

I don't notice it from my iPhone, but when I use view RCG from a computer, my screen lights up like a Christmas tree! Been using this site for almost 10 years, it's sad that it's gotten this way. Still, days later, they remove the link from the front page, but have yet to even try to offer up an explanation for this!

RCG- I thought your new PR guy was supposed to start today!?!
Do you guys care enough about your users to explain? It really doesn't seem like you care that you pissed off so many people...

I would also still like to know how the user from a few pages back got nominated for plus membership with less than 200 posts? Is he a booster or does he work for hobbyking?

I would also like to hear from September Plus number of the month , SteveT! Why was his interview put on the back burner?

Although they were annoying, I USED to let these through as it was my way of supporting the site, and I would try and support the R/C sponsors. As I was letting all ads through it was a small inconvenience to see the ones I was interested in. BUT a while back I started blocking them (AdBLock+, yes Plus with no charge ) as my firewall at work was catching some of the served Ad sites to be sources of Malware. I didn't even click on them. Just an Astaro banner telling me of suspected malware in place of the ad. That is when and why I started blocking them. They weren't even ads for R/C stuff. It was Ford Trucks, dish detergent and stuff like that.
There were also URLs in the header bars (for lack of a better term) that WebOfTrust Flagged as ALL red... along with the firewall flagging. When you start using 3rd pary ad servers all bets are off on safety of the supplied content.
So yes a few bad apples ruined it for the barrel....

I sent "Mgmt" examples and such. All I heard back was they were looking into.

$50 is fine if the babe in Dejavu*Xion's avatar delivers the membership to my door

Didn't even know this was up for offers if I didn't click the link in Micro's other thread.

If I paid a $1 a year can I get a foam and packing tape background instead of gold.

I liked it better when we were all equal.

Somebody PM me that 3d site, couldn't find it on google.

Yup, agree with you. Nobody is losing anything, or being required to do anything. For the most part, it's business as usual for those that want it that way. I'm still in classic mode and have seen no real changes, although I still get a scornful Terry glare for being in classic.

What if the money went towards saving or creating more RC clubs? What if the money was donated to charity? Any or all of these ideas (and more) would make RCG+ worth sooooo much more then it is currently.

But, it appears they are more interested in profit then the hobby. Would love for them to prove me wrong.
Last I checked this was a privately owned website. Value is in the eye of the beholder. Just because you don't see value in the fee doesn't mean it's not there. What with the socialist view point lately that keeps cropping up in this issue, since when did profit become such a bad thing? Sponsor events, creating RC Clubs, and charity? Not bad ideas at all but why should this place do that? Isn't using this sites overwhelming information good enough?

It also may or may not have lead to 3dhs holding their garage sale this week over on that other site as opposed to over here on a site that helped protect hobbyking and not the company that was ripped off during this debacle.

So for many, they are unaware of all of this, but for the 3d community, the recent actions of HK and RCG are still very fresh, this just adds possibly another nail...

It seemed that the smoke was possibly blowing over for some, but this just brought all that back to the surface.. I bet that other site is stoked that RCG is doing most of their recruiting for them.
Is anyone forcing you to do anything? Hate to see this thread degenerate into a tinhat crowd. There's no massive conspiracy with this site and HK, for gods sake show me some other legitimate website who has more anti-HK threads than this. Comments get shrunk and threads moved to appropriate areas when needed. If people keep their comments professional and within site rules, they stay for all to see. (case in point Valenti and his Co-pilot). Many disagree with what they say but do you see their posts get deleted? You're 3D buddies got into a tizzy and some of them and others got pointed because they couldn't control themselves. But you know what, one person put his money where his mouth was and went out and did his own thing. And it looks great. A place for 3D fans and hobbyists to get together and do their own thing. And it hasn't become a cesspool or hate and truly psychotic idiocy like the other one that laughably has truth to it. Go Gyro go.

No, some only had to pay 20. That choice was available to everyone for the past couple years. Some did it, some didn't.

Ya, real shady, keep breaking the site rules over and over, keep thumbing their noses at the rules and then cry foul then they get bounced. Oh, and keep coming back with socks to enjoy the site. But then cry foul? Cry me a river. If my some wild stretch you don't know, go read a pro or anti HK and let us know how it goes. All kinds of vitriol and redacted comments, and points. Hey, weird, the threads are still there though.

Who cares, how is that relevant? Did you see a post requirement? Perhaps someone else found those low count posts as helpful?

Don't see how people are not equal here. The site is providing a value added option, at a fee, no different the thousands of other business out there.

I PM'd the site to you. It really is a great place to visit and learn from. Stark contrasts to others who have tried the same thing, with different intentions.

Porcia, I don't want to get into all the details of the HK think again, but I know certain people got a bit out of control with the way they expressed themselves, but many legitimate posts were deleted that questioned hobby-king's customs declaration practices. I know very well that threads close and move and blah blah blah, but when certain posts are deleted with no rules broken, and discipline points are given for posts weeks back in order to build a suspension on certain people, that's shady. I know hobbyking is a huge supporter of this site, but for rcg to step up and try to clean up HK's mess was a slap in the face to 3dhs, who also pays money to this site, for now... Their loyalty clearly lies with their biggest sponsor, don't blame them, but they could have figured out a better, classier way to handle the situation.

Lots of weird things have been going on lately. I'm in full support of gyro's site, but i'm also educated in exactly how and why it started. I'm in close contact with the owner and admins of the site, so I think I understand what sparked gyro to go off and start a new site. It would take all day to go back and recite all the issues that went down in that week or two fiasco. I'm not going to throw out accusations that don't exist, but for RCG+ crap to happen so soon after the grand opening of that site is the best thing that could have ever happened to gyro! That and 3dhs choosing to do their garage sale over there..

Based on your posts, I'm not really sure where you stand, you support the other site, but don't support the people who are upset with how or why it started?

If RCG doesn't want bad press then they need to start making some smarter decisions... or they can just continue to delete posts that make them look bad... It is their site after all...

I was one of the first to post on this and to recap, my comments were not for discussion in this blog but directed to RCG as a means to give them feedback. I for one feel $50 is way too much for what you get and I just wanted them to know. The real motivation for this feedback is because I like RCG so much that I wanted to give them total and honest feedback. I know I won't get a reply and that is ok but I also know they read it so I'm good. The other discussion is just noise really given this is a privately owned site and they can do as they wish and I respect that as well. I encourage anyone to comment openly here but speak to RCG, not as a means to continue a dialog with other RCG members. If you want to do that, start a new thread to discuss it. This isn't a discussion thread. This is a blog
