Someone in our club has a NIB unbuilt American Scout. I'll have to check it out next time I am over there. He said he would not build it. Might have to talk to him about it.

The good old days ...

When I was a kid, I earned a weekly allowance of $0.25 cents in 1959. ($1.98 equivalent today!)

How much does an 8 year old kid get for allowance these days?

With that money, I could buy five candy bars.

Or, a plastic model kit. I mostly built airplanes, because the 1/72 scale models came in plastic bags, hung on a wire rack. Actually, they were $0.29 cents, but a couple of soda pop bottles found a long the way earned a deposit credit and I could buy the model.

For the way expensive models, like the kind that came in a box and cost a dollar or two, those were birthday or Christmas gifts.

Ha ha. I remember looking for bottles and cans so I could afford what I wanted too, kids don’t think like that today.

Man, what a great memory, a big deal that was to go into Woolworths and B-line to the model section ~

Plastic, and the flat Guillow hand gliders with the slot in the fuse where the wing went through ... maybe if you were rich you could get one with a rubber band and a prop !

Lindberg kit # 700

Most is salvageable, somebody got glue allllll over most of the dark parts.

Most fortunately, the foredeck, cabin roof and hull are completely untouched.

Aft deck and cabin wall ( flat parts ) will be traced and reproduced as well as I can.

Ooo, you actually have one of these? Lucky guy!

Seems like you could carefully 'polish out' the excess glue using fine sand paper and still use the original parts?

LOA? @18"?
