i have been moving so much sand with my excavator that my early Bruder conveyor belt gave up working (due to the poor conversion). when I converted it I reused all the bruder plastic parts and mounted a sprocket on the the plastic roller that moves the belt.

So I fixed that now, using following parts:
- M8 socket bolt, 8mm bearing, M3 bolt and 2 nuts (they fit into the M8 socket head) and I kept my sprocket which has a 6mm hole which I reduced to 3mm.

I drilled a 2.8mm hole in the M8 bolt and threaded the hole

as you can see the M3 nuts fit perfectly in the M8 bolt

this is the old plastic part that I was taking about which I now discarded

The sprocket will sit like this in the M8 socket head

and this will serve as the new strong axle to drive the belt:

As the M8 bolt will not go all the way through, I have drilled a 4mm hole in the other side of the plastic roller that drives the belt to fit a 4mm steel axle in the hole. I drilled a 2,8mm hole in the 4mm axle and threaded it:

I place a 3mm screw in the axle to fix it to the plastic roller

Now, another problem I had before, when using the conveyor, was sand in the chain. I fixed that by making a simple alu cover and fixed it to the body of the conveyor and to one of the free holes in the mounting straight-edge of the RB35

it works now like a charm

I have a Fendt tracktor which may come in handy to transport my excavator. I thought I would do something with it. So I started the conversion:

For the motor's I am using a PVC tube. Perhaps I should make it in Aluminum....

I got the wheels of the axis today and prepared them so I can fill them up with black silicone tomorrow. I will use the M12 size bolts to connect the wheels to the RB35 motors

both Front and rear wheels will be filled with black silicone so there won't be any dirt that can get into the wheels later on while driving the tractor around.

I have filled my wheels with a heavy duty black all fix adhesive silicone...
they are quiet heavy now (not as heavy as with led)

when the silicone is dry, I will paint the grey PVC tubing red to make it look better.

I also drilled all the holes for the LED's

and I mounted the flashlights onto the plastic support so they will fit nicely back in place

I have ordered the motors, speed controller and servo's. waiting for the delivery now. Meanwhile I have time to play around with the excavator

Hi great build. I have looked at all the photos and saw that you were selling kits. Are you still doing this and if so how much are you selling them for.

Design Software

Nice project. I'm curious as to the design software you used. I use Solidworks,Pro E and Autocad for my design work. Very interesting the use of plates to achieve thickness. This is the method I use to produce specialized tooling for our Press Brakes. www.omnimetalsco.com .
