i received the geared motors today...

just a question but wouldnt it be more efficent and cheaper to use brushless motors for the drive and hydrolics ???
this way lipos could be used worry free as most if not all esc's have lipo cut off .

I started to make the hydraulic tubing today. 1 side finished so far...

I could not wait till to morrow to do the second side. This is so much fun!

Here is today's status update on my build (apologies, no pictures today)

I have received all they hydraulics except for the pump. The cylinders are already fitted on the model. I will continue to finish the work on the hydraulics as soon as the pump arrives.

The motors are fitted to drive the tracks. I have good quality tracks on order and expect the delivery still this week.

I do still need to buy the controllers for the drive motors. That's the final thing to do in order to get the model up and running.

I know there are cheap hydraulics kits etc. on the market for less than 300 euros, but I decided to buy good quality parts to finish of my personal model as i want to enjoy it for a long time.

On top of my alu parts kit, I spent a total of 1500 euro to finish it off with good quality materials. I don't have a lathe, otherwise, I would have been able to shave off several hundreds of euros making the cylinders and steel rollers myself. So that means that I will have good value for money excavator.

I have did the layout of the components. Still need to thing about the most efficient way the have everything neatly fitted in the model.



I did come across a problem with the pump and motor connection. I received the pump and motor from Leimbach today but I believe something is missing to connect both together.... anyone knows what is missing?

Looks like you are missing the impeller.

Thanks DeadTom. Leimbach confirmed they will send me the missing parts.

This is really a fascinating build, kinda gives me that feeling of when I was young and had this constructors kit from Germany. Man, I built a lot of things with it.

I'm glad you posted it here. I have seen these in action on YouTube before and believe me, the fun isn't over after it's built.
