the excavator is entering in the final stages of construction

still to do:
- 3 more buckets to make
- some minor brazing work to the body and undercarriage
- the electronics and the hydraulics
- fixing the driver' seat --> important
- finalizing the body cover with hinges for the cap covering the engine room

mounting the top of the undercarriage to the undercarriage using threaded spacers

using bolt to fix the from the top and the bottom side

bending down the 4 edges of the undercarriage top plate to create more clearance for the tracks

preparing the black cover for the engine room access with hinges

bending down the 4 flaps to enlarge the access to the engine room. following the shape cut out by laser

after bending all the flaps, I installed the black cover

I was a little too quick drilling the holes for the hinges in the aluminum plate So I had to repair the holes in the aluminum, which I did with the Easyweld flux rods. I am happy with the result.

Plans?

Hello,
This is an amazing project. I have subscribed to the thread, and I'm looking forward to seeing the project completed. I don't do cars, trucks, tanks and such I'm an aircraft guy for the most part. I stumbled onto this thread by accident, and I think I may be in trouble. Do you have any intentions of making plans available? Granted, the amount of work you are doing for the kits certainly warrants the cost, but it may be prohibitive for many hobbyists. Plans on the other hand would be easy for you to sell with very little investment on your end. I think that many people would purchase the plans. I know that I would.

Best Regards,
-Mike

Hi Mike. Many thanks that you like this build. I do get a lot of questions indeed about making the plans available. I hold on to the plans they are not for sale. The kit with the 480 lasercut alu parts is available at low cost. I know you won't be able to get them cut anywhere else for a price I am offering the kit.

Easy access to the technical room plenty of space for the hydraulics, battery and electronics

This video shows the end result of the assembly of all the alu parts. I do still need to make the other 3 buckets. I am expecting delivery of the motors so I can start working on bringing the model alive
