Multiplex Twinstar FPV, show your stuff
This thread is solely about using the Multiplex Twinstar (I and II) for FPV use. I'm a experienced RC flyer, but at the time of writing I'm a total rookie on FPV flying.
During the process of building and getting experienced in FPV I feel the need for info to share and get on how I should configure my Twinstar for FPV.
So, please post your FPV setup, experiences and video's with this sweet plane!
I got the idea of starting FPV a year ago. I scanned all forums on what to do for FPV, and ordered a Twinstar. Most of the components FPV related I bought second hand on ebay / local RC forums. Then it all went quite, job/kids etc...but last months i've been actively focussing on getting experience in flying FPV. KNowing that FPV is a more risky form of RC flying i tried to prepare myself for succes.
Getting familiar with the flightcharacteristics of the twinstar, non FPV.
Getting experience with flying configuring and flying the Twinstar from pilots perspective.
Current setup is 3S3000mAh zippy with 2*2200 HK inrunners with 6*4 apc
Rudder, elevator and ailerons (Y- cable)
Multiplex evo 9 TX/RX on 35MHz
Pico SSM Gyro on ailerons
(on the shelf: FMA copilot)
Flies like a dream with this setup. 20+ minutes on average. Stable (the gyro helps a lot when windy), and plenty of power when needed.
Camera Sony 600 TVL (fixed in cockpit, should move to moveable L/R)
Rangevideo 1,3GHz, 1W. Cloverleafs on both RX/TX
Battery 3S 800mAh lipo
No OSD yet (have a tiny OSD ready to be installed)
Goggles are Headplay 800*600 with battery mod.
All FPV electronics mounted in a mockup canopy. Electrically not connected to 35MHz electronics.

I going to start my TwinStar FPV build soon.
I have the electronic on a test airplane now and the Twin is sitting in my garage in a box.
Am going to use 2 outrunners with 9x5x3 props.
72mhz for RC
1.3Ghz for FPV
Two battery set up with a 800 3S for VTX and camera.
3300 3S for RC on board plane. (may get bigger later)

lol, I think everybody is over using the twin star as an FPV plane.. pretty sure there is an old thread like this too...
It's a good plane, but with things like the universeye, skywalker, zephyr, etc....

I posted that video 4 years ago, and I'm still flying that same twinstar today! An awesome platform for sure.

My Twinstar Build Log for those interested:
Great plane, just wish they made one a bit bigger.

Have started the wiring for mine.
Am using Braided USB cable for the 4 Servos and also the OSD/Camera system.
Have soldered the 4 servos and now need to order a servo plug crimper.
Next is BL motor fitment in the stock Brushed housing and then cutting a hatch in the side behind the wing.

Nice, using shielded wire is also what I did (with a 1W 1,3GHz so close)
I changed my setup a little because my TX started to control my pan servo, so i moved TX to the tail (with shielded wire routed to nose, and added a clc filter for 12V in tail as well) and moved GPS to the nose far away from TX.

can you recommend a proven setup for the twinstart that can take 10km and back and perhaps even better about 1 hour flight time?
