Welcome to RCG
i'm looking at the instruction manuals (dura1111, dura1130, dura1140) for clues about the channel.
Appears that the inside measurements are 3/4" wide, 1/2 inches deep, and mounts open side up.
looking for more info
Head to tail length is 44 inches

rick. dimensions are correct , and overall length on mine is 31"

Outside width is .9"
Height is .566"
wall thickness is .65-.68"

Now for the holes starting at one end with the 2 smaller holes. All 4 of them are in the bottom centered. The 2 small ones are close to an end.

1/8" hole .61" from an end
1/8" hole 5.11" from same end

From the opposite end
.17" hole that is 4.85"
.17 hole that is 12.16" from same end

That means the two center holes (one large and one small) are about 13-7/8 " apart.

...and make sure you use a stout engine on this bird. I'd recommend a ball bearing 46 like the TT46Pro, OS 46AX or similar. A bushing 40 (40LA) will fly it, but it's nothing spectacular.

FWIW, the Duraplane is not a good trainer per-se, but is the best plane to teach yourself on. I beat the living be-geezus out of mine and it still flew as well as a Duraplane flies. Gave it to a fellow member and he trained his wife on it.

Thanks Gulio... just what I needed... on how it flys .. i used to fly one years ago.. it was kinda hard to keep up with.. but I am going to try to lighten it up a bit by using coroplast in the wing and tail feathers I have built some S.P.A.D's in the past..and enlarging the flying surfaces .and cut holes in the fuse to lighten it up somewhat... to have better wing loading...its just nostalgia

Thanks Mike

Gulio... went out and bought the aluminum channel.. but one more thing before I cut this up.. the 44" of the fuse length .. how is that measured? i measured from where the engine mount meets with the PVC fuse.. if measured out as above it measured out at around 37 " to the end of the channel at the tail..is this correct... is your DuraPlane the trainer 40? with the the ailerons... thanks .. mike

No idea how it is measured. Mine is the trainer 40 and the manual does talk about building the wooden ailerons and requiring a 4 channel radio. So mine does have ailerons , but it is still in the box and has a wing corner broken off. I think it's new old stock and I got it cheap. It may be missing other items, you want the whole kit? cheap.
