F35 vtol from italy

Hello, I have made 30 flights a complete transition from vertical to straight, to improve directional control in hover I added a mini fan 27 mm at the rear. C is someone who has done something similar with a fan?

Great job!

So there is just one main ducted fan and one mini fan for pitch and yaw control?

It looks like there are vanes under the main fan. What do they control?
Anyone that has tried this type of transitioning VTOL craft knows it is not easy.

Congratulations on a fantastic project!

The flight is assigned to the main fan, vettorabile in 2-axis swivel and 3 positions 0, 45 and 90 . a small fan 27 mm is placed in the queue and serves only for the control of the directional hovering

Do you think it is possible to remove the 27mm fan and use the vanes for yaw control?

I tried but the command in the stream carried away too much importance to the fans and was ineffective. Excellent system is to take a portion of flow to the fan with a tube of depron Please install a valve and a flow diverter for use as yaw control for hovering. see photos
I send you also a test drive with the model controlled by the tube depron visible under the fuselage, facing forward. The system is best for very low weight but less effective than the minifan. Moreno

May i ask how can the 70mm edf push more than 1kg?

I got a 70 mm edf with 5 blade using 4050 kv with 4s cell 14.8V but can only push
till around 700g my whole plane (F-35) weight around 900g~ can't even modify it to VTOL f-35......

Do you have any suggestions for me to make improvement?

I've tried a lot of fans on the bench for more than 1 kg of thrust to be put in a cell more. I have fans with 3700 kv motor that gives me 1450 g thrust at 62 amps. Important not to make long flights otherwise burn the motor. Important to use good batteries, often after the first 5, 6 flights get older and do not raise more than the floor model! Take a test stand and controls thrust and consumption in watts. Moreno

I do not know, I have done many tests whereas now the aeromodelling materials are cheap. 25 years ago it was different, everything cost so much and what they bought had to be good for strength ....

I would like to ask how did you derive the equation of motion of your f-35 since there are problems on the rolling and pitching problem due to disturbance from environment during hovering...

It is really a big problem to deal with, as you only got 1 edf to hover your plane...
