well... yeah..

can't blame him though...

Edison really wasn't an inventor, or innovator. Edison just had the ways and means to advertise himself as such. Edison was the Bill Gates and Steve Jobs of his time is all. He ran a very large and influential engineering and technology firm, and had hundreds of thousands of engineers employed in his concern. and all that came about not because he was able to invent the light bulb, but was able to SELL the light bulb, and then got people to create the infrastructure to support said light bulb. just like Jobs and gates. folks like Steve Wozniak are actually the big original brains behind both those firms. But, Jobs and Gates were able to sell those ideas.
in that regard, Edison is more like the late great Billy Mays.

the point is, while Edison DOES deserve a place in History, He doesn't deserve the place he has, he should be put into the same bracket as the Rockefellers, Vanderbuilts, Westinghouse's, Flaglers, Fords, and Duponts,

y'know...Industrialists...

this is of course... just my humble opinion.

I was talking about the author, not Telsa.

Now go do some research and figure out where he got the means. He deserves more credit than you seem to give him. (My grandmother's father had the same profession at one point, and it wasn't one to make you rich).

oh, I give Edison plenty of credit, please, don't get me wrong. he provided a ways and meens for the engineers and inventors he employed to make a living, and developed and opened markets.

he was most certainly an innovator in that reguard. All I'm saying, and the author of that cartoon (admidtly even more heavily handily. but that's those folks schtict) is that Edison was more of a salesman, a CEO, than an inventor.

Henry Ford did not INVENT the horseless carriage, nor the concept of standardized replaceable parts, but he DID refine the modern industrial assembly line, and in a great advancement for American socialism ( thats a dig ) he had the foresight to actually make his product affordable to the very people making it and helped to usher in the American middle class.
Edison, via his company was a breeding ground, think tank for the advancement of american technology and furthered the great American way and our dominance in industry and technology. He was a great mind that helped put us at the top of the great international food chain and helped make the united states the great and powerful nation that it is.

but he never really invented squat. He was a industrialist. and he surrounded himself and employed the greatest minds he could to do that.

he is to be commended and celebrated. but not as the "wizard of Menlow park" as the history books have made him out to be. that persona was maybe his sole, and greatest personal invention.
