Pinion size for Align 450MX motor in scale fuse

Fliers,
I have an Align trex 450 Sport v2 that I am going to put into my Heli artist A109 scale fuse. My question is should I go with the stock 15T motor pinion or should I reduce it to 12T or 13T or 14T? I will only be attempting scale type flying and more time is better for me than raw power. I'm using 2100mah 30C lipos and a CC Ice 50ESC. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Peter

For scale, generally go with the smallest pinion you still get sufficient headspeed with.

12T should do: I am currently flying a 4 bladed BO 105 with 12T pinion and I still need to set my ESC (in governor mode) at approx 60%.

Oh, before you ask, I have the same motor....

That should do, if you don't mind headspeeds of around 2500 or higher (which is perfectly acceptable by the way).

If you want to go lower (for example with a 4 bladed head, to extend flight time) it is a better option to look for a lower kV motor (say, 2800~3000) with a 3.17 mm shaft, so you can fit a smaller pinion (I believe, 10T is the smallest availlable for a 450 size) so you can keep your throttle curve high enough to prevent overheating of the ESC.

But that is just one of the options....

Bert,
Thanks again, I'll build the heli and install it in the fuse over the winter and see how it performs for me next spring with the 12T pinion. I doubt I'll be buying a multi blade head for quite some time and will definately be using the stock motor which came in the kit. My wife already says I spend too much on hobbies and not enough on her, lol.
