Have added a new area to the site http://www.outerzone.co.uk/books/index.asp so that I can try out a method of posting complete scanned books online, page by page, with all text and pics. The area is working but still a bit untidy as yet, feel free to have a go and give me feedback thoughts on it.

Another request for help. I have got a nice scan sent in here of the plan and article : Golden Wings glider by Vic Smeed, from July 1955 Aeromodeller. But the scan of the page with the actual plan is too low resolution to scale up to full size. Text comes out unreadable. Can someone scan and submit that plan page at high res, maybe say 600dpi? Here's a pic of the low-res plan...
Edit. doh, wrong thread. Need to repost this on the other thread. |

Does no-one have any thoughts on the "Books" section, at all? Maybe I am building something that nobody wants, in that section. Could be.
I have just tried using it on the iPad, and you know how in the Safari browser you sometimes get the 'Reader' button appears in the address bar? It does that beautifully. Not sure exactly how it works, but it grabs all the text, all the pics, and displays a lovely page for reading in the iPad screen. You can of course scroll up and down, and blimey if it doesnt automatically follow all the 'next' links and then cleverly load all the next chapters (into the bottom of the same screen) as you are reading along - it basically means you can sit and read the whole boook as one long enormous page, just swiping to scroll as you go along. Very cool. My point here isnt that I did something clever with the Books pages. Rather, it is that the 'Reader' button does something clever with them. |

What's this, another thread I've found. Considering I am a dedicated fan of Outerzone I just can't understand how I missed it. My thoughts on Outerzone - I recommend it to everyone that has an interest in building proper models.
I like the idea of incorporating CAD files in the system and would be more than willing to contribute all of mine. Steve if you do decide to add the facility then all I need is an e-mail and the files will be with you. Just keep up the excellent work. Al |
