Hi PBY5, and thanks for the kind words. As far as numbering (and linking) the pages goes... which page exactly do you mean when you say the Pic page? Do you mean the 'browse plans' pages, or the 'latest model pics' pages? I am curious, and might be able to fix that one quickly.

Hi Steve,
yes, the 'latest model pics' pages were the ones I meant. Cheers

Ok, there is a quick and dirty solution, just type the URL in the address bar, eg http://www.outerzone.co.uk/latest/mo...cs.asp?page=16 there are currently 31 pages of model pics, and you're right there are no links on the page footer to skip direct to a page, apart from prev, next etc... To skip direct to any page, just change the last number in the address bar to the page you want. That should do it.

Of course you need to remember the page number, but that'll work.

Happy to help.

Another random appeal. Does anyone have a clear photo of the Throttle Benders Union Badge? Just a thought. It's for the Mew Gull plan posted by stormin here http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=3566 I have been kindly sent this one thanks to ChristopherPinn, just wondeing if there's an even clearer version out there.

Another dumb question. AFIK the magazine title "Model Aviation" ran only from 1975 to now, and is the title owned by AMA in the US. So if I have 2 plans here that are dated as 1950 but they come from "Model Aviation" is that a different magazine? I'm talking about the Ron Moulton CL Battler http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=2606 and the Ken Marsh CL Hotshot http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=2604 ...these are from the UK, a UK mag, right?

On the same issue really, also I need to know what year is this Ken Willard Sunday Sportster plan http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=1269 from? Thanks for any help with this.

Steve

EDit: Ah, ok, forget the Sunday Sportster question, have found that one in 1976.

Thanks Ray. Still curious about the first question, though.

All I know is that the UK Model Aviation was published by Ian Allen Ltd for a short time in the 1950s. I have never seen a copy but understand it was quite good.

Steve, the plans you refer to come from a short series published around 1949/50 by Ian Allen. There were only seven publications in all, and they carried various titles - e.g. "Model Aviation", "Model Plans Annual" etc - I am lucky to have all seven, albeit three of them are only photocopies. In my view they were some of the best model aircraft magazines published, the plans were all given with many full size parts and there were some cracking models. I'll dig mine out and give you a list of the plans shortly.

Right, here we are at last! The mags took some finding and to my distress I can only find six. Trouble is they were amongst the select few magazines that I kept on the bookshelves in our bedroom and when I did the big refurbish earlier in the year they were packed away.

The mags were co-edited by Bill Dean and Ron Warring, and the contributors list reads like a "whose who" of modelling of that period. It is difficult for me to be precise about dates or even magazine title of the first one as the cover is missing and I can find no reference to date or title in the body of it,but I think it was 1948.

First mag, called ?, think 1948 or maybe 1949

Barnstormer C/L stunt - Ted Buxton
Weatherman C/L trainer - Cyril Shaw
Arkansas Traveller C/L speed trainer - H A Thomas
Slicker 50 F/F contest power - Bill Dean
Airflow Mite F/F sport - Ron Warring

"Model Aeronatics" I think 1949

Powerhouse 41 and Powerhouse 33 F/F contest - Dick Korda
Firecracker F/F contest - Norman Marcus
Little Mike all sheet sport rubber - Pat Lidgard
Tiercel F/F rubber - W A S Geddie
Small Fry C/L stunt - Ron Prentice
Nieuport C/L scale - R D Randerson
Bullet C/L speed - Donald Powell
Stingray - C/L speed - G Jones
Contest Glider sailplane - Ron Warring
Stooplate novelty C/L - Len Steward

"Model Planes Annual" 1949

Sport Wagon cabin F/F - Calhoun Smith
Squib small F/F pylon - Ron Warring
Jersey Javelin HTL F/F - Walt Schroder
Boxcar C/L stunt - Dennis Allen
Racer 10cc C/L speed - John Wood
Kandoo C/L stunt - Peter Cock
Super Sunbug 10 ft sailplane - Roy Yeabsley
Voodoo F/F rubber (Wakefield) - Ron Warring
Jetwing all sheet jetex - Bill Dean
PLUS dimensioned drawings of the Jaguar Wakefield

"Planbook" 1949 or 1950

Defender C/L stunt - Fran McElwee
SE5 C/L scale - Bill Blake
Dervish C/L stunt - Cyril Shaw
DH71 C/L scale - H J Watkins
Vagabond F/F cabin - Bill Winter
Toreador F/F pylon - Claude McCullough
Flight Cup Winner contest rubber - Edwin Stoffel
Dwarf mini F/F power - Dave Hilliard
Zephyr 6 foot sailplane - Eddie Catten

"Model Planes Annual" 1950

Pinocchio lt wt rubber - Laurie Barr
Jimp - 48" F/F pylon - C. A. Allen
Stunt King C/L stunt - Brian Hewitt
Helicopter (rubber) - Jimmy Tangney
Glo-Bug all sheet C/L - Carl Goldberg
Needlenose C/L speed - Cyril Shaw
The Hearse C/L speed - Cyril Shaw
Thunder King - 10 foot sailplane - Peter Gilbert

"Model Aviation" 1950

Cumulus F/F pylon - Carl Goldberg
Dinah-mite F/F FAI rubber - Norman Marcus
Firecrest Jetex 200 F/F - Dick Twomey
Midget 50 Jetex 50 F/F - Butch Hadland
Luscombe Silvaire F/F sclae (Kalper) - Bill Blake

IWILL find the other one eventually. Wish I couls scan these but the magazines are a funny size - bigger than A4 which is the biggest I can scan. I think you will agree there are some very tasty models there, they were a really great series of mags, just a shame there were not more. My copies are either tatty or photo copies, originals in good condition are as rare as hens teeth and command silly prices - but at least I can read mine!

That's excellent, thanks Sundancer.

If you want to have a go at scanning any of them in two passes, with some overlap, I will have a go at stitching them together, should be no problem at all.

Outerzone is a very good site but it could be improved by sorting the plans and listing them by type ie Power, Scale rubber, Duration rubber etc.

Hi PureRubber, that's interesting. Just checking, but have you used the BrowsePlans page http://www.outerzone.co.uk/browse_plans/index.asp ? I ask because that has sections for power, scale rubber, etc... or are you saying there should be more detailed categories than that?

Also, have you tried using the TagMatrix page here at http://www.outerzone.co.uk/advanced/...trix/index.asp ? that helps you find plans by power source, wingspan, etc...
