I see that the OP is in favor of my idea of sterilizing people who CHOSE to accept welfare money from the government.

More surgical sterilzations mean less tax payer funded abortions and less kids to clog the school systems.

Of course, if we are paying for an abortion or supporting a kid the person person's responsible for either or both should be sterilized.

Birth control prevents abortions. So true.

Even beyond that.. Don't have sex with a person that you are not prepared to raise a child with. Babies are the result of sex. You may take steps to prevent it, but babies happen.

They almost never happen with surgical sterilizaton. My vasectomy that I CHOSE to have has been flawless and great.

If someone CHOOSES to accept government money they shouuld get one FOR FREE as part of the deal. Imgaine the savings.

Well, lets try to keep this somewhat in the real world and not fantasy land.

Old people who have already had kids are not the problem here. And that is the VAST majority of the sterilized.

So you'd like a government sterilization program aimed at people on social assistance, or, in otherwords, the poor. How 1930s Germany of you.

People have a choice. If someone chooses not to accept the money then they don;'t have to have the procedure.

If someone needs the money, then, guess what? They don't need any more kids because they can't take care of the ones they have.

You body becomes my property when I am forced to take care of it or it's offspring.

Anyone not wanting to be property should not "sell themselves" to the government for votes.

I'm pretty much an incrementalist, and think it best to make small steps in the desired direction. How about we first try free, no incentive, sterilization, and see how that works out. If it turns out that it does not reduce welfare families, or abortions as we wish, then we can incentivize.

Chances are, a free iPhone 5 would do the trick.

They'd be lined up around the block

Ah.. That makes too much sense. If we solved the problem what would we have to bitch about?

How about if we paid for NONE of it... That would be cheaper for everyone involved except those RESPONSIBLE. Once they figure out that there are consequences for their irresponsible actions, this would slow back down to the levels of the 1950s...
