Aerofoil pattern

Hi don't know if any one can help but I'm after some where that I can download aerofoil patterns for gliders. I want to design and build a glider that is a floaty slow glider I'm looking at about a 1.5m wing. It will have a carbon boom and a fibreglass pod any help would be greatly appreciated

Why not a DLG wing? They are easily made and the AG airfoils are readily available.

The MiMi has plans that include a built up wing, it uses the AG03 airfoil. The Quick Flick 2 also has a built up wing, not sure which airfoil it uses.

Info on both gliders are down in the Handlaunch section.

But honestly foam is easy to cut yourself and a lot cheaper then balsa. Just cover the foam with 3/4 ounce glass and attach it with Minnwax Polycrylic. Very effective, quick and cheap!

If you want really floaty and really slow, check out some of the ff towline gliders at outerzone.co.uk Of course most of them are TOO floaty for an RC glider. Another place you can look is here:
http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/uiuc_lsat.html
and here:
http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/a..._database.html

I agree that Profili is very useful for evaluating and plotting airfoils.

You can learn a lot about design here:
http://charlesriverrc.org/articles.htm#On-Line%20Plans

You might think about a larger Apogee. The small ones stay up ok, but they're fast for their size so I wouldn't exactly call them floaters.

You can learn a lot by looking at one of these:
http://www.djaerotech.com/dj_product/chrysalis.html
You can learn even more by building one. I owned one for a few years and they fly very nicely. Float quite well but also have reasonable speed range. And they're simple. And inexpensive.

Any reason for the 1.5 meter size? They float better when they get larger, usually.

1.5m as it will fit in my van in one peace. Up can go bigger if its better I'm now thinking maybe put a motor on it as a f5j. And after looking on the net I'm also looking for dlg bulsa plans but want some thing with ailerons and maybe my wallet can stretch to a kit

Here's a link to the short kit Quick Flik 2 mentioned above. There are links to a lot more information from this page about the plane. You can also get the full kit at this website.

If you're considering the QF2, you might also consider:
http://www.wrightbrothersrc.com/products/gambler.htm

Lots of the larger gliders have two or three piece wings. This is true, for instance, of the Gentle Lady and the Olympic 2, and I think it's true of the SIg Riser 2 meter, all nice handling, slow gliders. The Olympic II is 100 inch wingspan. The two piece wing fits pretty well crosswise in the back seat of my car*, or I could put it in the trunk if there weren't too many other things in there.

I carry two 3 meter gliders in the front seat. If I folded down the rear seat, I could keep them in back. At the same time, I can carry a 1.5 meter glider and an Olympic 2 or a Radian. Not much room for passengers with all those on board, however, unless I put the ski box on the roof.

*93 Saturn SL1, which is pretty small and gets 35 mpg on long trips

A good dlg will not exactly be floaty and slow, because then it wouldn't launch very well.

I think a really good airfoil for that span would be the S-4083. I have a CR Climmax that is using one to good effect. As good as the SD-7037 is the 4083 has it beat in my opinion. It can float or scoot as necessary.
