It weighs 36 oz and it powered by a Scorpion 3008/32. With a 10x5 I am seeing about 105 w/lb. A 9x7.5 gives 125w/lb.

Maiden flight yesterday afternoon.
This plane has been finished (flight ready) for over a year with only the detailing left to be done.
Lurking around, watching these other PT-22 builds going on got me fired up to bolt the wing on and go fly her.

3.85 lbs AUW seems kinda heavy for this plane but it flies very nice.
4000 mAh batt probably not helping.
Had to had oz of weight to the tail to get the CG shown on the plans.

Landing was a non-event.

Congratulations on being the first to fly one of these (that I know of).

4 lb isn't out of order on a model of this type. In fact, it sounds pretty reasonable to me, there's a lot of wood in there.

Well done on a nice looking model.

Boy she does fly fast. Not at all what I expected. Great maiden flight. Looks like you had her dialed in perfectly. She should be a lot of fun when you start opening her up for some aerobatics.

So Boogie, how about some photos of the covered PT-22. What covering did you use to simulate the aluminum fuselage?

With enough power any plane can fly fast. What I would like to know from Boogie is how slow will it fly?

Yes it almost flew right off the board. CG felt good, and only needed 2-3 clicks of elev & ail trimming.

She's really over powered, 425W with an 11x7 prop.
During that maiden flight I never had it over half throttle, even on take-off.
Made three more flights and had a chance open her up. Very zippy in level flight and has a pretty tall vertical.

Handled mild aerobatics well and although I think it's still a fuzz nose heavy, it didn't need a ton of down elev to fly inverted.
Didn't mess with the flaps and still need to do some stall tests.
Also need to set my low rate end points on elev throw. I hate it when a plane will snap at speed with full up elev.

I think if a fella wanted he could build this plane very light by replacing a lot of the fuse ply with balsa.
A vac form cowl would help a lot too.
Plus a lighter plane would mean a smaller motor & batt.
Not that it was any trouble to fly.
I have some jets with a wing loading in the 40's so this was pretty tame.
But I would advise anyone flying at this weight/speed/power level to forego using the balsa filler in the wing-joiner. And make a tapered filler out of AC ply like I did.

But yeah, a great flyer and gets a lot of comments at the field. Hope to take it out again this afternoon if the winds cooperate.
Got a feeling this will be my go-to plane for a while.
